Daz 4.23 Update Broke Iray Rendering

Before the update, I could render hundreds of frames just fine on GPU, sometimes it might drop to CPU, but would always go back to GPU no matter what.

Now, I only get one or two frames rendered on GPU before it fails completely. The first frame renders normal, as it always does, with iterations I am accustomed to, and then it fails.

I need solutions...

I loaded in a character and a camera, and tried that simple scene, and it still has the same problems. This is a problem with the update, not my GPU. I attached a log for that test too.

  • I find it difficult to comprehend going from being able to render thousands of frames with my GPU just fine. I now get lucky to get 2 frames before it fails and goes to CPU. This all happened after the 4.23.0.1 update.

    I just want to rollback to the last general release, cause I can't afford to wait for this to get fixed. I didn't spend all this money just to not be able to use it.

    I'm running into the same issue. My drivers are up-to-date, but majority of my renders fail. I've toyed with various settings and can't find a fix.

    I at least get 200 frames though before it drops, is a weird bug but I think the latest Nvidia driver might be at fault rather than D|S4.23  as 4.11 does it now too and it's been since I updated that in Gforce Experience

    I have rolled back to 561.09 and it's already rendering the same scene twice as fast, will see how many frames I get and report back here and other thread

    Rolled back as well and works perfectly. Never would have guessed it was NVIDIA.

    The newest Studio Driver (565.90) is broken, so we reverted to Studio Driver (561.09).

    Thanks for the info! I'll hold off on the update. Hopefully Nvidia gets it fixed soon.

    and you don't have a problem with the games? if not, please advise me where I should return? if it is possible, however, I have an nvidia rtx 4070 and I have already had 2 updates behind me that caused this problem :( please help

    Reverting back also fixed the issue for me.  I'm now wondering if DAZ will notify us when it'll be safe to update to latest NVIDIA drivers, and NVIDIA rarely addresses DS/Iray fixes in their own notes.  I still remember the dForce break with a driver update from a year or two back.

    I suspect there is some component in a scene that the new drivers don't like interacting with in the latest iteration of Iray.  So your mileage may vary.

    Everything was working fine for me before 4.23.

    the fact I could do up to 300 frames of an animation and others only one image before it failed suggests a few variables 

    rolling back the driver overall even one image was considerably faster

    ... and it affected D|S4.11 too which is what made me think it was the driver

    it may be different generations of cards are affected differently mine a 2080Ti

    Hey folks,

    Well, it's finally happened.  I'm actually going to revert back to an earlier version of DS.

    I'm reverting back to 4.22 from 4.23.  I was having the same Iray rendering issues as a lot of other people (slow, freezing, etc).  Even tried reverting back to NVIDIA Studio Driver 561.09.  Nothing worked.

    Something is wrong with Iray now.  I can't pinpoint it as it freezes my render and then I have to End Task DS through Task Manager.  I'm attaching my two logs - pre-render (right before I hit the Render icon) and one after I restart DAZ 4.23.  The log cuts off mid-render without an error being given, so I can't even glean what might be the issue.

    I'll let smarter people figure it out.  I'm so glad I kept the last general release version of 4.22 from August (I believe).  And now every render that was freezing or slow is smooth as butter.

    Will check back to see if there's been any headway as to a potential fix for the issue.  Cheers.

  • I finally started doing many renders at once, and the issue is still there, even on the older studio driver. I get the same "an illegal memory access was encountered (while de-allocating memory)". I atleast can get it to work for like 100 frames before it happens, rather than 1-3 frames. It's more manageable, as I can always close Daz and Reopen to fix it, but I am forced to accept CPU timing when running overnight.

    I have seen that when it goes to CPU, like 3 out of 4 times it causes that specific frame it was working on to have a transparent copy translated 50% up the frame, forcing me to redo the frame.
