Rendering problem

I'm new.

I have installed DAZ, it RUNS wonderful.

I really LIKE it.

however when I go to render, this is what I get..... error message

unable to render, no renderer available....

I've checked compatibility, it SHOULD work.

Mac OSx 10.6.8

306 Ghz Intel Core i3

Memory 4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3

and here is my graphics card.....

ATI Radeon HD 4670:

Chipset Model:    ATI Radeon HD 4670
  Type:    GPU
  Bus:    PCIe
  PCIe Lane Width:    x16
  VRAM (Total):    256 MB
  Vendor:    ATI (0x1002)
  Device ID:    0x9488
  Revision ID:    0x0000
  ROM Revision:    113-B8030H-114
  EFI Driver Version:    01.00.403
  Displays:
iMac:
  Resolution:    1920 x 1080
  Pixel Depth:    32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
  Main Display:    Yes
  Mirror:    Off
  Online:    Yes
  Built-In:    Yes
  Connection Type:    DisplayPort
Display Connector:

Now....  How do I fix my problem... I loaded Iray....  it SEEMED to work, but I can't render at all......  it just won't let me....

I want to use this program....  I do not have Photoshop, and I can't afford anything else.......

I am thinking of adding Blender as my renderer.... Is it compatible with Daz?

Is there any way I can check compatibility with the Iray, and fix the problem?

Thanks....

Ok, bad news - you don't have an nVidia gfx card, so no 'native GPU' for Iray.  It *should* run fine on the CPUs alone (unless you are running 32-bit).  On the Render dialog (Ctrl-Shift-R (for Win, I think Cmd-Shift-R for Mac?) check what Engine is set to (the default is Iray).

  • Nope running the 64 bit....

And the Cmd-shift-R is that when I am IN Daz?

  • Ok....

    Its set to Iray...

I can choose  between it and

    Basic OpenGL

Intermediate OpenGL (Both of which i think are MAC products)

Nivda Iray (Which as you said is the default)

    3Delight

    and Scripted 3delight

What the heck should I use?  I mean I can try them all, if they don#t work I can reset defaults....

    sigh, I'm such a Noob

  • Okay, Iray It just doesn work, but I can use the GL programs AND the 3Delight just fine...

    THANK YOU!

  • Iray and 3Delight are the main choices - scripted 3Delight requires sripting (tough therea re some samples) and the other two are just refinements of the preview mode (you might want them if you want a wireframe look, though). 4GB of RAM, however, is going to limit the complexity of what you can do.

There should be options in the Iray for CPU, GPU or both...you need to make sure you are set to CPU only.
