How does one turn off the HD to apply the basic Shader on any Character?

HD has nothing to do with shaders.  HD is for morphs.

I think there is a little confusion in your terms.

Perhaps you could explain what you are trying to achieve?

HD has nothing to do with shaders...it is subdivision of the mesh related, not surface properties.

You just had to get all technical and specific, didn't you? :)

Regarding: FW Phoebe HD has in the paragraph this statement: Well just turn off the HD and apply the basic shader, still same great quality, just a fraction of the render time. Perfect for group scenes, or test renders.

This is what I am trying to understand because I have this Character.

It is nice listening to "Smart People."

  • Ah, you need to find the HD morph in Parameters or shaping (look in the Curerntly Used group) and set it to zero. HD morphs slow down the pre-calculation step of the SSS shaders, so if you are too far away to see the HD details it's worth removing them. You can also apply a shader that doesn't used SSS (or switch the SSS off in the Surfaces pane) but that will markedly chaneg the appearance of the figure - check to see if there are non SSS material settings included, though, as they should give a close to intended look.
