Assets won’t load into preexisting scene but asking to start a new scene

I try to add assets (hair characters etc) to my scene but instead of adding into the preexisting scene but instead asking if I want to save the current scene and and if I click yes or no it opens a blank scene as if I click start now scene instead of loading an asset into a preexisting scene. The only "fix" is to play musical hard drives with literally all my Daz data from hard drive to hard drive which for me is a multi day project. It does it on all my computers. Is there an actual fix am I doing something wrong or am i screwed?

Try using "merge" from the file menu instead of "open" or clicking on.
Is it a specific asset?
Because it sounds as it has been saved as a scene instead of a scene subset.
You could try to click File > Merge and then browse to where the asset are.
Alterhatively load the asset in a new scene and save as a scene subset and use that.
Why not have a fix to make it work normally? How do i get it to do that?
It's multiple assets and I didn't change how they were saved. They aren't supposed to load that way either!
Is metadata working correctly? This can be a symptom of database issues. Do you also get the prompt when applying presets?
It only happens to characters hair and clothing for a few of the assets mostly the newest ones I got. Might be a database issue. I have directories on different drives none of which are C drive. That one is only 512gb and I have over 2.5tb of Daz content total excluding the scene subsets and presets i created myself. Those are on the C drive and a different drive too. Is my issue fixable?
If these assets were saved as "scene" then it's the normal behavior.
You can right-click on the thumbnail and select "Merge into scene" rather than double-clicking if you don't want to open a new scene.
So you encountered the issue when loading files from some Products ? If so, can you name the products ?
