Compatible Figures for Environments?

I am a relatively new user. I've been starting to look at purchasing environments and I noticed a lot of them saying they were only compatible with one type of charcater (like Genesis 3 or Victoria 4). I understand this kind of thing for clothing and poses, but is this actually important for environments? Do PAs just list the version they used in the screenshots to be safe, but it's unlikely to cause issues for Gen 8 or 9? Or are there actual reasons that there would be issues putting "non-compatible" characters in a scene with this environment?

    that seems odd, i would expect environments not to have character requirements.

    I've had a quick look in the store by checking both Environments and a Figure and the items that correspond to both all appear to contain Poses and/or Wearable Props. Thus the compatible figures would relate to just those parts of the product.

    Check the "What's Included and Features" section of any product which should detail everything that is included.
