campfire?

i've got beginnings of a scene, 4 buys camping in the fields overnite and something big happens.

i need a small campfire and a light that will illuminate them accordingly. i also need to lower the whole scene so the horizon line is at shoulder level, but all my moves have not accomplisshed that. what control am i not using correctly, one of the ones in the right corner or sometrhing else?

Lowering the camera and tilting it up should raise the implicit horizon line.

You could use one of the fire and flame VDB products (or a free fire and flame FBX file, I beleive there are a few around - it might be worth checking Combustion's site) but it may also work to use a regular fire model withj its surfaces made emissive (give them a reddish emission colour, or a white colour and a cool temperature value), or just add a few point lights of reddish or yellowish colours in a slightly scattered cluster in the area of the fire.

Since you seem to be looking through your camera (the View picker at top-right, which currently says Camera) you can just use the View controls - right-mouse drag on the orbit/rotate button (the one with a curved arrow going around a sphere) in an upward direction.

Go to Render Settings/Environment/Dome Orientation Y and lower it using Negative numbers until it disappears e.g -30, -50 etc.. You can also scroll down to Horizon Height and use Negative numbers there, which ever looks best.
