Hi,
I am trying Iray. I want to add some effect that what you see can be decided by your viewing angle like fall-off in 3ds max or octane. Is it possible? How do I do that? Thanks!

Possibly what you want is the Fresnel_Mix block.
Not sure if this is the same thing I want to do or maybe this would be a separate post? I want part of my models face to be in shadow and part of it to lit. I'm thinking I need to adjust the fall off on the iray spotlight, but I can't figure out how to do it. When the spotlight is selected, I see two circles. Isn't that the fall off? Isn't the inner circle completely lit, the area between the two partly lit and the area outside not lit. I've tried various sliders, but none of them seem to adjust the circles.
Thanks.
Thank you for reply. Do you mean the fresnel block that DAZ had for 3delight? That doesn't seem to work in Iray..
No, MDL has its own Fresnel mix blocks. Specifically, the "Add Fresnel Layer" in both mono and chromatic forms. Look in Shader Mixer under Bricks/Functions/MDL/MaterialEditors/Layering (for materials) or under Bricks/Functions/MDL/DefaultModules for "Fresnel Layer" if you are building from BRDFs.
Uh, found it! It's seems a little complicated, but I will try to learn about it. Thanks a lot!
