A valid postgreSQL CMS connection could not be established?

I am getting [the "A valid postgreSQL CMS connection could not be established"] this message every time I open Daz studio, it didn't bother me up until today because I didn't need it for anything. So, I switched hard drives recently, and since I did that I am getting the message, I need the connection in order to use a very importatnt script for my work, so I would like help to fix the issue, thank you.

Does the CMS work in DIM (assuming you are using that)?

If so, have you compared the path in DIM advanced settings, with DS > Edit > Preferences > Content?

And if not, how have you installed the CMS?

If you've rebooted and you still get that message then it sounds like you did not install PostgreSQL CMS via DIM (DAZ Install Manager).

  • I installed PostgreSQL CMS via DIM and Preferences - CMS settings - I set the cluster location to the same location as my daz 3d library with all of my assets.

It may be a permissions issue then - the database is not an asset, it is a catalogue, and its location should not be the same as other things.

  • so where should it be then?

  • on my c drive there is a C:\Daz 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS.   file path so should I set it to there?

No, that is where the executables go. If you go to the CMS Settings tab of Edit>Prefrences then there is a button to reset it to default.

As Richard Haseltine said: reset it to default.

    It's located in C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms though.

And a lot of other DAZ 3D specific "Windows Roaming Profile" files are located at:

    C:\Users\<YOUR USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\

I set the CMS settings path to the top most one, to where the content cluster is at and it is still giving me the error every time I open Daz, what now?

I don't know how to check that, I installed it through DIM.

What security software are you using? If you look in Task Manager with More Details enabled (bottom-left) are there half-a-dozen or so postgresql processes running when Daz Studio is open?

  • on my c drive there is a C:\Daz 3D\Applications\64-bit\DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS.   file path so should I set it to there? also, yes the processes are dunning 8 of "Postgre SQL server"

I'm not positive, so could be mistaken (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), but I think it should be installed to the main application folder C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS. How do you install the app and content?

I set it to that location in the preferences and I'm still getting the error. Also I installed it through Daz central.

The preference ios the location of the database, Frank is looking at the location to which the application installed - but that is correct for a default Daz Central install, which Install Manager will respect.

Press F2 in DS, CMS Settings tab, what is the status of the button framed in below screenshot, Stop or Start ? If it's Start, click it to start cms service, what will happen ?

If the CMS cluster is there then maybe it's something else.

Do you have a "Daz Connect Data" folder set in "Content Directory Manager"?

If that folder doesn't exist or hasn't been set it will cause this error also.

Press F2 with Studio running to open the settings

Click the 5th Tab on the top marked "Content".

At the bottom of that tab click the long button marked "Content Directory Manager".

A new window will open showing a list of your contnet directories.

One of them should be called "Daz Connect Data".

Click the "+" plus sign to open that one and se if theres actaully a folder listed.

If there isn't one then you need to set one.

  • 1. Crosswind it was started so I stopped it and started again, that didn't help.

    2. IceCrMan the Daz content data was set to a hard drive that I had got rid of weeks ago, so I set it to an existing hard drive and that fixed the error message, I can now use the script same as before, thank you for the suggestion, I should have mentioned that I had switched hard drives earlier, my bad. Thank you all for the help.
