Can't change hair color of Soft Curls Ponytail for Genesis 9

It's been about a year since I used Daz, but I recently updated everything with the Install Manager and opened one of my old files that includes Soft Curls Ponytail for Genesis 9 and I seem to not be able to change the hair color. I've never had this issue in the past and when I load up a different hair, I can change the color with no problem (using the method I've used before: select the hair in the outline, double click a new color from the materials tab). I also started a new file with Soft Curls Ponytail and I still can't change the color. Does anyone else have this problem after updating? Thanks for any assistance!

What do you mean by "can't change..." ?
Select the hair node: Soft Curls Ponytail Genesis 9 A or Soft Curls Ponytail Genesis 9 B, dbl-click to load Material Preset. They all work on my side...
Thanks for your reply, @crosswind. By 'can't change' I mean that the default hair is a brownish-red colour but I can't make it any other color using the method you describe. This method works just fine with any other hair I've tested (and used to work for me with Soft Curls Ponytail). Thanks for checking on your end - at least it's not a problem for everyone else. I've tried deleting this hair from the Install Manager and redownloading/reinstalling but unfortunately the hair is always the default brownish-red. :(
Can you check in your Viewport, which DrawStyle are you using ? And can you find any warning / error message in DS Log ?
I normally use Texture Shaded in the viewport but I tried a number of display styles, including Iray, and they all show the same red hair after I try a different material. The Log might give some clues as to what's wrong. It shows a bunch of warnings and references to items missing:
I'm seeing a lot of errors that seem to be about not being able to find the figure it's applied to - this might indicate that you've loaded the hair floating in space, or something else might be wrong. From the moment where you try to load the green texture, it seems to be quite happy with what it's done. What happens if you manually adjust the texture in the Surfaces tab? You should be able to load in a different texture image from there - it doesn't solve the root problem, but it is a workaround unless something is reeeeally wrong.
You are loading a blend color, which will only give a little tint to the hair, depending on base color and blend mode.
You should start by applying a base hair color.
As felis said, you were loading the wrong Material Preset... you should've loaded the material preset from Base Color category in Smart Content (or sub-folder > Mats in Content Library) rather than Hairblending Colors (ss1). Hairblending Colors just change the maps in Glossy / TopCoat Overlay and Overlay Mask rather than Base Color. That was why you saw no color change..
Thanks for your help. I was able to change the color by changing the Base Color texture in the Surfaces tab. This is not ideal, because I think there are multiple textures to change with each color, but at least the color changes in the viewport now. And even if I start with a new Victoria 9 character in a new scene and apply Soft Curls Ponytail, I have the same issue with changing the color using the normal way.
Interesting. I'm not sure what's going on because I'm attempting to apply the new color the same way I've always done and with the same method that works with other hair styles. Maybe after the updates, Daz 3D is now confusing these base hair colors with blend colors?
So weird! I don't even have a Base Color category for Soft Curls Ponytail! But with a similar hair I bought at the same time, Soft Curls Long, it has the Base Color Category and I can successfully change the color with no problems.
Suggest you directly use the product in Smart Content > Products tab rather than Files tab... uncheck Filter by Context which may bring you low filtering in Smart Content...
If you installed the product via Daz Connect (you have your account logged in...), I'm not sure but there might be some wrong metadata. Suggest you alwasy install products in DIM (at least for the downloadable products...)
It works! Using the Products tab instead of Files seems to have resolved this issue! I never even noticed these tabs and the contents inside them looks so similar that I never would have thought about this. I will continue to use the Products tab for other assets. Thanks so much!
