How accurate is Measure Metrics?

I use "Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio" [ https://www.daz3d.com/measure-metrics-for-daz-studio ] a LOT but I have serious doubt about how accurate the measurements are especially the tailor tape numbers. Using the tool I tried to create a character with Arnold's measurements (22" arms, 60" chest, 31" waist, etc) and no way does the character look like Arnold. And when I try to make the character visually look like Arnold, his biceps measure in at 29". It seems like the tailor tape numbers are off. Does anyone else feel this way?

In my exp., 99%+ accuracy with Measure Metrics can be assured. So, who is Arnold... ? Arnold Schwarzenegger ?

How did you create the character... by using Figure Metrics script ? You can easily compare your Arnold with Michael 8 or 9 that has precise measures data.

Are you sure the measures are correctly placed, and are not including something they should not? In particular, see http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/plugins/measure_metrics/advanced_measuring/start#restrict_to_polygon_selection

It seems that Drogo Nazhur wants to create some muclebound characters, it will be no wonder if Conan The barbarian is mentioned as the main subject. devil

Haha, actually I got it after asking that question. But who is Conan my dear Halcon ?  That Detective Conan aka 名探偵コナン ? devil

  • Back in my G8 days when I last used Measure Metrics with my characters (I haven't gotten that far in character creation in a very long time), I swear I remember a morph - I think one that affected height - that was not reflected by Measure Metrics. I started getting some weird results when comparing characters next to each other. But that was a long time ago.

  • crosswind Don't tell me you haven't seen some of Anold Schwarzenegger movies?

Conan The Barbarian is a classic movie of the '80s directed by Dino Di Laurentis

Conan the Barbarian (directed by John Milius, not Dino de Laurentiis) is a legitimately great movie, like a surprising number of early Schwarzenegger movies. The sequel, Conan the Destroyer, is schlock that you may or may not find enjoyable.

  • Gordig I forgot that, Dino de Laurentis was the Producer.

Conan The Barbarian an enjoyable movie.

The sequel does not live up as the predecesor, this is the same situation with other movies.

However, there are some that surpass the the first one, being these a few.

Take for example Superman The Movie with Christopher Reeve, the sequel was one of the best in my opinion.

This year WB is going to release a new version of the hero.

No one knows if this new movie will be thrilling or not until mid-year.

    Time will tell.

    That was my experience.

This made me smile.  In an earlier time, I worked in a science building that was financially guided by Arnold Schwarzenegger's gubenatorial predecessor. It was finished during rnold's term and there was an ill-fated attempt to invite him to the opening (the reseachers threatened to boycott as Schwarzenegger was not so pro science at the time).  Anyway, he did not show up but he did appear years later at an event with previous Governor Jerry Brown and Governor Gavin Newsom.  As a crude truism, actresses lie about their age and actors lie about their height.  It is clear that Arnold is off by about some amount looking at picture so him and Newsom together.  I have actually met Newson in person and vouch that his full six foot three height.

This is what I'm created ...

    My thoughts on this:
No garantee for accuracy, just how from my experience.
1)A person on screen looks much bulkier, than in real life.
There is a rule saying, a person looks like 10kg more on screen. That's one of the reasons fashion models are SUPER skinny.
2)It depends on the pose. arnold's biceps and triceps look so much more, when arms are down. His arm muscles collide with his latisimus. Squeezing the arm muscles in a bigger z-scale (using DAZ Studio coordinates here).
In your pose, Arnold's arm muscles look also bigger because of gravity still works on his triceps, while the biceps is bulging. DAZ Studio does not simulate this.
3)DAZ Studio cameras are not real cameras with accurate lenses. So ther are diffences possible between photos and your representation of Arnold's physique.
4)With comics, movies and our 3d apps, our brains might be tricked to expect more stylized bodyshapes. You will hardley find any not stylized 3d character or figure in any 3d store, including DAZ 3d, unless it is an unedited 3d scan.
So your Arnold with your measured values aplyed, might be in fact accurate, it just doesn't look that way, because of the upper meantioned reason.
BTW: check out some websites, that offer nude scanned models in T-pose.
You will almost be shocked, how asymetrical, almost distorted, those usually handsome, attractive people will look like, when forced into a T, or A-stance.
