Problem To Carrara from Daz Studio 101 - Saving Millenium Dog with Puppy Shader
Greetings,
Having a very basic problem. Trying to keep file sizes small on my laptop. I want to change the textures and morph parameters of the Millenium Dog available from Daz, which is in CR2 rigging format, and save it so that it loads directly to Carrara. I have loaded the millenium dog in Daz Studio, adjusted the morph parameters, and applied a MAT pose preset from the millenium pup. I have tried to save it as a scene, a scene subset, and a character preset, but none of those work. Some won't save out of Daz Studio without changing weights, others give an I/O error when trying to load in Carrara.
I can load the millenium dog directly in Carrara, adjust the morphs, and apply the preset. I was hoping to not have to do that every time I want to load. Doesn't saving from Daz Studio reduce the file size? Or am I mixing that up with later figures?

you would likely need to save it as support asset figure AND make sure you have blended/triax weight too
and no, it's a much bigger footprint than legacy Poser rigging
I love using Poser legacy content in Carrara for just that reason, it works so well compared to duf which is full of issues
another option is DAZcollada export from D|S Carrara import which works quite well with Poser content
Thanks Wendy.
I will just load it in Carrara directly, morph and texture there, and save natively in Carrara format.
this applies to DAZ studio BTW too
once you save legacy content as duf it creates a dsf data file under autoadapted and loading morphs not added before saving doesn't work well as it no longer has deltas etc the way Poser works
Great info, as always. Thanks.
Embarrassing that I have forgotten such basics.
