DS knows what driver is being used (Help -> Troubleshooting -> About Your Video Card), so why not pop-up a message and notify the user what driver version is required by Iray?
- Greg
I intaled the newest Daz, and the surprise is that it doesn't use the GPU again..., but it uses the CPU very quickly, and curiously it renders at the same speed as my GPU did in DAZ 4.11
In that case are you sure it isn't using the GPU? Task Manager is a poor indicator, check the log (Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File) or use a tool like GPU-Z to monitor its activty
Kinda late to the party, but I was SERIOUSLY expecting the OP to start with something like, "DAZ Studio, Blender 3D, and nVidia Iray walk into a bar..."
I am unable to get Daz Studio to open and not getting very far with tech help after a couple of weeks. I am using Nvidia driver 32.0.15.6094. Could this be the problem? I was about to spend a considerable sum on stuff, but don't see the point if the program will not work, perhaps due to an update making it incompatible with my computer. I did uninstall and reinstall (seeking the beta program which I hadn't realized was beta, but didn't install) and also have something called Daz Studio 4.5 which I do not recall previously. I am stalling at 'Creating Main Window'.
That doesn't sound like the correct Nvidia driver. The Studio driver I'm using is 572.16, and is the most current one according to the Nvidia site. I'm using DAZ Studio 4.23.
I have checked several times but it is claimed to be the most recent. I have just looke on the Nvidiasite which has thisoe swlltry that, if can figure out how to install it....
My information might not be applicable to your GPU as I'm using an RTX GPU. I get my Nvidia driver updates (and they do notify me when a new one is available) through GE Force Experience which is provided by Nvidia. It will search for the latest driver for your GPU and ask you if you would like to install it. It will also give you the option of using the Studio driver or the Gaming version. I've been using this option from Nvidia since I was first using GTX GPUs.
I have (I think) updated the driver for Nvidia (although not easy procedure) but unfortunately this has not resolved the issue. I was fine until 1st or 2nd February. Since then no access beyond 'Creating Main Window'. So much effort and money over the years, and now apparently use;ess on computer originally bought for this specific role.
