Migrating from DIM to Connect

So. It seems I have duplicates of a lot of stuff installed now. Some via DIM and some via Connect (in 4.9, obviously). I'm work on a rather...space constrained...device most days and keep my Daz content on a micro SD card...so space is a bit of a premium for me.

Should I (to save space) uninstall via DIM anything that I've installed via Connect?

It seems from the FAQ that Connect can make use of DIM installed content to speed up installation, but it doesn't seem to "clean up" (which is probably good for those that don't want that!). I'd just like to get back to > 1 GB of free space on my "daz disk." :) Removing duplicated content would be super nice.

Thanks for any tips and tricks!

You read correctly, when you install/upgrade something with Daz Connect that was already installed through DIM it will copy the files over (and download the ones it that are out of date/missing) to the Daz Connect location.

Since it is a copy and not a move it will leave the old DIM installed files behind you should uninstall those products through DIM after they are installed via Daz Connect.

  • DAZ_Rawb, thanks! That was the bit I was missing. Time to clean-up, then! Thanks. ^_^

  • I have a bunch of stuff that I've migrated to DAZ Connect but also a number of products that are not yet available in DAZ Connect (e.g, ExP-based stuff for VIctoria 4 and her friends and some other products).   I'd like to clean out the Install Manager installed versions of the products migrated to DAZ Connect.    Any easy way to get a list of the products I need to leave alone in install manager?   I've got a list of nearly 2000 products that I would need to go through to manually work this out otherwise.    Probably doable, but very tedious.   Any suggestions to make this easier?

According to the change log they're adding the ability in DIM to filter on installed by Connect, but that version isn't available yet.

  • Fixmypcmike, that'd be ideal and much faster than matching back and forth between the two screens for sure.

    Looking forward to that upgrade!
