I'm working on a project and Evil Flow Ghost hair (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-evil-flow-ghost-hair-for-genesis-9) would be perfect... Except I'm using Genesis 8 Female. So I was wondering if there was an alternative...?

Couldn't you just parent the hair?

According to the product page: While Evil Flow Ghost Hair is specifically tailored for Genesis 9, it's also compatible with Auto-Follow technology, allowing it to seamlessly fit with most other characters.

I haven't tried it on a G8F but maybe someone else has?

Auto-follow means that it will generate a projected morph in the hair, for G9 morphs not directly supported. Not that it can be used on other generations.

My suggestions is like nemesis10, to position and scale the hair, so it matches, and then parent to head bone.

    Perhaps Leni Hair?

I like to use it for underwater pics because of the flowing/floating look.

Look for some long dForce or dForce-ready hair for G8F and turn the figure 180° (aka upside down) for the simulation process.. voila - hair going straight up when the simulation is down and the figure is in the normal position smiley

  • There is another way to simulate the hair straight up, and that's to set the simulation gravity to -1.0 before doing the simulation. No need to rotate the character. Regards, Richard.

Might work with this one which has been working fine for me using G9 hairs on G8:

    Including SBH (strand based hair)?

Don't think I've tried with SBH hairs before as I usually avoid using them, but here's what I found. Some work, some don't. Here's two that work:

dForce Emberlynn Hair for Genesis 9 - https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-emberlynn-hair-for-genesis-9
    (render 1)

dForce FE Strand-Based Wolf Cut Long Hair for Genesis 9 - https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-fe-strand-based-wolf-cut-long-hair-for-genesis-9
    (render 2)

I could not get Wolf Cut Long Hair to dForce though, got an error message, but I don't know if it's related to the conversion. dForce worked fine with Emberlynn hair though.

    Some that don't work:

dForce Strand-Based Summer Style Wavy Long Bob Hair for Genesis 9 - https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-strand-based-summer-style-wavy-long-bob-hair-for-genesis-9
dForce FE Elegant Wave Long Hair for Genesis 9 - https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-fe-elegant-wave-long-hair-for-genesis-9
    Elis Hair for Genesis 9 - https://www.daz3d.com/elis-hair-for-genesis-9

Render 3 is Elis Hair, those that I've tried which don't work all end up looking something like this.

It's interesting that one FE hair works, and another don't, as you would think it has something to do with the technology used, but of course, a particular vendor can also use different technologies for different hairs.
