Printing

Has anyone ever printed a night scene? I’m thinking of ordering a canvas print from somewhere (not sure yet), but I worry my render might print darker than it is on screen.

Any tips?

Is your display calibrated? Do you have a profile for the device that will be doing the printing?

Ummm...I have an  IPS screen? I won't be doing the printing  myself.

Calibration and profiling mean geting numbers for what colours the screen actually displays when sent specific RGB values. A profile for the output device and medium will do the same. Once you have both most image editors should be able to give some idea of how the image will print.  If you don't, getting the screen to match or preview a standard colour space (sRGB isn't bad for many printers, though I suspect it would be less applicable for a canvas printer; modern screens can however do a lot better than sRGB).

so I need to decide on a print service and find out about their color profile? Sorry, this is new to  me lol

Well, first you would need to geenrate an accurate (or reasonably so) profile for your own display. I use a Spyder pro, so that i can (in theory) match the tablet and the screen, but I think there are free tools that allow you to eyeball it roughly (like the old Adobe Gamma).
