Bones vs morphs

I have bought clothing which looks good on the characters when in T-Pose but fail to convince when posed. If I really want to use that clothing, I generally make morphs to fit a specific pose but, of course, it is not practical to create a new morph for every pose. I'd spend more time in Blender than in DAZ Studio and I might as well dump DS and do everything in Blender.

So I'm under the impression that I could add extra bones to the clothing to make it more versatile. To this end, I've been viewing tutorials and, as usual, I end up confused. For example, the tutorials I've seen are based upon Genesis but Genesis 3 seems to be another kettle of fish. The videos show things like the XRotation weight map but that is listed as unused for G3F and her clothing. Instead there is one map called General.

Do I need to wait for new videos or should I just accept that most clothing is never going to pose well (some of Cute3D's work being the welcome exception).
