How do I create a "head" only add, remove

Hi, and thanks for looking.

On occasion I have purchased G8 characters that don't have add and removed separately for both head and body. There is usually a slider in the "Actor" properties that can be moved from 0% to 100% but that is for the entire character.  Sometimes the body shape is not too extreme and I just use it, clothing is a wonderful camouflage. Other times the vender has body shape preferences that don't match what I prefer. So in these instances I want to create a head only add and remove so I can use the head shape with G8 base body, then use the various body morph packs I have to create the body shape that suits, keeping the face/head shape that drew me to spend the money in the first instance.

The current character is Elicia for Genesis 8 Female by Inersia on another web site. I am sure I have had the same issue with characters sold here. I am just using this one as they are topical at the moment, where I live.

I have tried Character Mixer for Genesis Figures by 3D Universe but there is no morph that their product can find.

Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

Jay Versluis has a video on the subject:

He is showing how it's done with Genesis 9 but the d-former he's using is also available for Genesis 8 and 8.1

    You can use this tool:

    https://www.daz3d.com/shape-splitter

It can separate head and body morphs (among other useful things).

Thank you both. I have put "Shape-Splitter" into my wish list.

Jay is always wonderful with his tutorials. As companion tutorial:

That shows how to save the morphs created using the Studio supplied deformers that I have only been able to locate using Smart Content as discussed by Jay.

I hsave now created the 3 morphs, full body as I tweaked the nose and separate head and body morphs. Now to re-watch the save video so I can use them on any new figure.

Hi, again I'm surprised there's evidently not common knowledge of an absolutely wonderful free script called "Character Splitter", introduced early 2023, IMO fixing the most obvious lack of functionality in D/S since G1!  / smiley/ peace                                                              https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/617476/character-splitter/p1                          ;                      P.S   I frequently do a lot of dial spinning on heads, only to "morph myself into a corner" laughadding some, or even a lot of smoothing (both kinds) can create very usable heads. And details can be added, morphing afterwards. But of course, now the figures body has been affected too. If you use it with the smoothing modifier updating, it's not much good for realtime movement.  If you save the whole figure in it's smoothed state (bake the smoothing) all the bending morphs will be gone. So, instead,  I use this script with "normalize" unchecked, then the splitting process retains the smoothing, saving head and body separately, then I delete the body. (sometimes I use the bodies anyway) I haven't noticed problems posing the split smoothed heads, although I don't have too high expectations when I save a head that's smiling, for instance. Another marvelous feature of the script is enabling your choice of dformer to include the eyes and mouth etc, in the split, saving tons of trouble with G9's eyes alone! (some minor adjusting may be needed) The only thing that seems necessary sometimes is to "adjust rigging to shape" after splitting, even though the script supposedly does it. / peace
