Editing DSF files

in The Commons
Hello,
I want to try and fix a duplicate formula error that I am getting as I would like to keep both characters. However, when I try to open the DSF file in notepad, it is encrypted. Is there a way to open this file so that I can edit it?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

It's almost certainly not encrypted, but instead compressed. (Encryption is used for some scripts and, I believe, Premier exclusive assets, but not most files).
Something like 7zip can decompress it (I think it uses a fairly standard gzip format), but won't recompress it correctly (although recompression isn't vital)... or you can use the Batch Convert pane in DS (you'll almost certainly have to add the window) to do the job, and that can do the compression in both directions.
It's not encrypted, it is compressed. Use the Batch Convert tab in Studio to compress and decompress your files. You can drag and drop them into the tab, or naviate the old-fashioned way.
It isn't encrypted, ir is compressed. The batch Convert pane in DS or any archive tool (i generally use 7Zip's right-click>7Zip>Extract here feature) should be able to expand it, and some text editors will open it directly.
Thanks everyone.
Please let us know how you get on.
I for one would be very interested
The following tools work well for editing DAZ Studio files. Unfortunately the author passed away several years ago so there are no updates, however they still work well.
