Please fix the bug in Connect before having a sale!

I am really annoyed,
Daz admitted that there was an issue with 4.9 for some people and connect was not working...
I'm still waiting 5 weeks on for that to be fixed so you hold a sale...for connect only?
So I can buy it and not use it or wait until someone finally "bothers" to fix the problem and then pay for the items at full price!
I guess there is nothing like giving the "bird" to loyal customers!!!!

Regards
Steve C

Smith Micro must really love the whole "shooting themselves in the foot irony."
Best thing is when I first came acroos this issue I warned Daz that they wouldeither go Connect all the way or do a sale...knowing that many users can't get 4.9 to work properly which is why I suggested they were "giving the bird" to some loyal customers.
I challenged them on my support ticket - if you can buy the stuff now and they'll fix the bug later, how about you give us the stuff for free and then when the bug is fixed I'll pay for the goods at the sale price....after all I can't use it.
P.S. Loveit - if you have a support ticket make sure you add to it and give them a wake up call because I finally have a reply. However I still need other answers before I totally wreck DS 4.9 to "try" a possible solution that "may" work.

Yikes.  I only use the library, not the smart content whatever, because I buy from all over and love much of my older stuff (all organized the way I like).   I don't have any issue with Connect in principle, but when I install something, it appears in the content library under products, but nowhere else.  I like to find the character I want and then continue on to browse for clothing, etc.  I certainly am not going to remember that some Daz Connect stuff is under the letter A and some is under C . . .  and oh yeah, those poses . . .   Not too impressed.

And when you can't get Connect to connect? What then?

What I need is some help with getting the damn thing to connect ONCE. After that, I can use what was at that link to do the offline version, but Connect refuses to connect.

  • I have to agree with some of the comments up there; Daz Connect makes things way more difficult and even up to a point where installing / removing packages doesn't work too well at all anymore. One of the reasons why I dislike the method is because it'll require you to connect online whenever you need to use one of the products (in all fairness: you can change this behaviour, but it can be a little tricky).

In my environment it seems that using DIM will always fail whereas Daz Connect sort off works. If I remove a package using the DIM then Daz Studio (so: Daz Connect) won't pick this up and will still show the items as being installed. Highly annoying and frustrating. Especially because the only way to fix this that I can think of is to re-import all meta-data. But that also has its effects on items which are already in my library (doing this while you're online or offline can actually make a huge difference). Because of this seemingly random behaviour I'd rather not use this.

Installing items is also an issue. After installation the item doesn't show up in Daz Studio as fully available (so also allowing you to right click and then open the mapped folders or the product overview) but instead I get an icon which tells me that I can now install it using Daz Connect. Even though I just installed it through the DIM.

I suppose all of this won't be much of an issue for people who will now blindly (re)install everything they got using Daz Connect, but not for those who are a little more critical with all this and who don't want having to rely on an Internet connection before you can actually use a product you already bought and paid for.

Seriously; this is the same old story of copyright protection which is repeating itself over and over. This is just my theory, but by making it harder on the customers to actually buy or use your products you're also somewhat pushing them away.

Not true - you need to connect only once, and any tiem you are isntalling content if you don't use the offline installer option. You do not need to be connected to use DS or content isntalled via Connect.

DS 4.9 uses a different set of tables from 4.8, and as I recall the release version does have a problem with uninstalls via DIM - I believe this is fixed in the Public beta though I haven't verified that. Content installed via DIM will still give the option to isntall via Connect, since it hasn't yet been installed that way, but if you do that it will use the local files rather than downloading (as long as the files have not been updated on the server, and as long as they are compressed locally)

I hate that I installed 4.9 and didn't realize it would update 4.8. Daz connect was working then it stopped working , no smart content and nothing I had bought recently showed up. The mysteriously all of a sudden daz connect worked and showed that I had 20.00 off for items and sale items in my daz at the bottom of the window. So I clicked on them and bought those items. Worked fine , installed etc. This morning when I loaded Daz my daz connect worked. Daz froze, I had to shut it down . and reboot the pc. When I loaded it again, it would no longer connect again. Made me wonder if it only works when there is a sale. What is going on why does DS4.9 connect works on and off. Must be a bug why don't they fix it.
