I already have Daz 4.6 when i try to download the 4.9 version it wont download what can be the problem?

Are you tring to download using DIM or from your Product Library? What happens? Does it fail immediately or only download partially?
I hope this is the right place for this because I don't know where else to go. And if your going to tell me where to go please be kind.
Some how I managed to permanently delete several folders and all of the content within them from my DAZ library. This is no big deal as I planned to install DAZ 4.9 anyway. Now I can wipe everything and do a clean install. But first I have a few questions.
I read the 4.9 Q and A as well as many other forum entries. As a hobbiest I don't have a problem
dealing with a small amount of encrypted data. But I do want to be sure I understand a few things.
Statement (please verify)
What ever I get from the DAZ store, purchased or free encrypted or not, will go to my account
product library. It will stay there for however long for me to access when I want and why I would have
no need for the zip files on my hard drive. If this is correct I can now start the questions.
1. When I use DAZ Connect, will it list what is in my product library available for download using
connect?
2. If the file is not encrypted only and I download through connect will these files become encrypted?
3. For unencrypted only files, if I want the zip file can I still download it from my product library using manual download after
downloading with connect?
4. I put two of the three free encrypted only offers in my product library ( somehow I missed one).
Will I need to do anything different to download these?
5. What is the best way to uninstall 4.8? My DIM shows 4.9 update in ready to install section and 4.9 in the installed section where 4.8 use to be. I have not updated as yet and would like to do a clean install.
That is what Daz has done and has said they plan to continue doing, however for the sake of completeness I should say that this is not something guaranteed by the EULA.
It should list everything that can be installed using Connect; there are some things that currently cannot be (such as the 4th generation figures). Some people have reported it taking a long time for new purchases to show up i Connect -- if that happens to you, submit a support ticket so they can fix it.
No, they will remain unencrypted.
Yes. You can also download the offline Connect files if you want a backup that can be installed with Connect.
No, they should show up in Connect the same way as unencrypted files. If you go to your Product Library there will be offline Connect files for download but no zips.
DIM will uninstall 4.8 when it installs the 4.9 update, so it won't make any difference if you uninstall 4.8 first. Note that settings do NOT get uninstalled in either case.
Thanks for the quick response. I will download and install 4.9 tomorrow through DIM.
I came on here seen the new download and thought ok thats kool clicked on the link to get the download, said i already have install manager so have to uninstall and reinstall ok np then it said couldnt download 4.9 due to either not enough data coming or error
So it successfully updated Daz Install Manager, but failed downloading 4.9?
Thank you again for answering my previous post. I dowloaded 4.9 and I am using Daz Connect. So far it is easy and working great.
I am back with more questions have not been able to find answers for searching the forums.
So far I am only downloading items from my DAZ Product Library. There is a lot of items with no or faulty metadata that end up in Lost and Found to wait for updates. I would like to set up catagories as I did with older software.
Example: In content directory
Categories > Aiko 3> Characters
Clothing >
Materials
For all items not in smart content.
1) Question - Can I move items from Lost and Found to here and if I do will the updates still find them?
2) My Animation and a few Script files have the frame, triangle, exclamation icon for not working or missing files. However, they all seem to work fine. 4.8 had a greyed DAZ Icon for these. AS they work I would not think twice about it but I can not tell if this may be the start of a bigger issue.
Is this icon correct?
If you find any pack with faulty metadata you should submit a support ticket so it can be fixed.
I have found no faulty metadata myself. I am only going by what I read in the forums when searching for lost and found category.
Are you installing your products with DIM?
No I am using DAZ Connect
You can make your own catgories for them, and those custom categories will remain even when the store-provided metadata is updated. You don't need to remove them from Lost and Found.
Thanks again for the info. This should keep me hands off the content db editor for a while. Every time I use it I start out fine then get to creative and start messing things up.
What is the Lost and Found Category for and why is all my content listed there?
It's for items that don't have metadata (or have incorrect metadata), so that they'll show up somewhere, and so that the Daz Librarian has a list of what needs to be fixed. If everything is listed there, how is your content installed?
No I don't think it's everything but there is alot! I do see there area few newer products in there and alot of older items which seem to be V4 era, but the new ones are G3 starter essentials because of the Toxic PNG icon and Leyton Hair because of the instructional png icons, so as these items get updated metadata they will disappear from Lost and Found category? My content is installed to my E: drive and so far working great.
Yes, as those things get updated they'll disappear from Lost and Found.
Well then I look forward to the day when all is claimed from the lost and found :)
I am back for one more try to figure this out.
I upgraded to DAZ Version 4.9.0.63 Pro Edition (64 Bit) from version 4.8 that had all of its
content removed I did the install using DIM.
After 4.9 completed the downloaded I went on line through DAZ connect and saw my Product library
items available for down load. I downloaded everything through DAZ connect. After the last download I switched to DIM and downloaded and installed V4.2 her morphs++ and associated files.
Everything appears to be working correctly. I have set up categories for content without mata data
and wore the paint off of the export user data button.
I do have some issues that searching the forums did not reveal an answer.
All of the content items have a new tag as they should. But, I have never seen any blue highlighted
fields and the Mark all as seen or Mark all children as seen options are not in the right click box and I
can not find them in any menu. Do they need to be turned on and if so where are they hiding?
Next issue, all of my animation content has the framed triangle exclamation point icon. Same one you
see for missing or corrupt files. There are also a few utilities scripts and DS lights distance, point
and spot with the same Icon. I loaded a character and tested the animation and lights and they are
working fine. I have not tried the scripts as I tend to avoid things with words like purge memory, snap
parent, import meta data from valentina and so on. Has anyone seen this? Should I do a ticket?
Also one last thing, in the products content library under letter L, I have something called local user
same triangle icon mentioned above. It was empty until I loaded V4. Now all V4 items, 800 plus, in the My DAZ 3D Library are in this folder. It looks like everything in the library will end up there. Is that
good, bad or a who cares thing?
The blue highlight on new items has been removed, unfortunately -- it tended to be buggy. New items are now assigned to Group: New and you use the group settings to clear it.
Every item needs to belong to a product -- anything that doesn't have a product assigned by the metadata is assigned to the Local User product. SInce you instlled those items with DIM they should have gotten assigned to products -- was DS open while installing? When you lunch DDS4.9 after installing with DIM, DS should migrate the new install information.
Thanks again for the help. DS4.9 was open when I loaded V4 with DIM. I was expecting to see the blue high light and when I did not I selected Scan known directories. That may hay caused the content to end up in local user.
If you re-import metadata or log into Connect that should move them out of Local User and into the products they belong to.
Once again thank you for the help. I reloaded metadata and there was no change. I logged in and still no change. I shut DS down opened and tried again with no change. I reloaded metadata but this time I turned of everything except V4. The V4 file in products repopulated and V4 showed up in smart content. I realize now that all I had todo was shut off user data as I remember reading somewhere user data rules over meta. I also got to try out group as none again because I forgot to turn off mark as new when reloading the meta.
