Why is everything darker in 4.9?

I have a ton of old saved files and am presently creating new files and am noticing that everything in Iray is a lot darker than previously.  Old scenes that once rendered as outdoor scenes now look like indoor or foggy and my new inside scenes are so dark... I am going a bit nuts trying to figure this out!  Has Iray changed?  Are Iray lights from the previous DS altered or is it the figures themselves?  I have Gillian and she looks so much darker she almost isnt usable.

If it's the figures themselves, there was a bug in the way Iray did SSS that has been fixed, which changes the way figures appear.  See http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/69709/daz-studio-4-9-daz-original-figure-skin-material-optimization

Thanks for the link.  Unfortunetly its been many weeks and they still havent fixed Gillian yet nor have they fixed what ever they broke with the lights.  Sunlights should not go from sunny to cloudy because of an update. I hope they get to work on this.  So far I mave seen nothing but bother attributed to this "Upgrade".  So far I have gotten past them but this one looks near insurmountable unless I start programming each node of skin... not somethin i want to be doing.

Can't remember if Gillian is Scatter or Scatter and Transmit; if only scatter than won't make any difference.

If scatter and transmit, change the translucency to just a hint of red; then mess about with the others that are showing a lot of red to get the look you are after. Too much adjustment can result in a lot of veins showing, but some folks it is more noticeable, and the paler the skin the more it can show for real too. Also the skinnier a figure the more it will show too - a layer of fat can seem to hide the veins. Least I think so, perhaps others will know for sure.

To get an idea of the differences; look at two figures side by side, one for 4.8 and the other for 4.9. Settings aren't always the same as PAs like to go for specific looks.

Well I had no idea that scatter and transmit even existed.  I will fiddle a bit but I certainly would prefer it if they fixed the figures or the program.  I loke plug and play as it were... if I learn too much I might actually begin to understand what this is all about, can't have that!

I'm not sure what you are seeing. Here is a render of FWSA Gillian HD in Studio 4.9 Iray. No adjustments made. Doesn't look too darke to me.

Yours looks great!  Here is mine.  She is the rightmost figure and her golden glow has gone decidely blackish.

Cant download it... too large I guess... just keeps saying uploading...

Check your gamma in render settings, it probably got reset to 1 and should be around 2.2
