3 High Resolution HDRI Set 1 - where are they?

Hi folks,  I bought 3 High Resolution HDRI Set 1 today but cannot find them anywhere-  The other HDRIs I bought from DS load fine and are where they should be.  I checked IM and they loaded OK but when I search I cannot find them and they are not locatable under smart content. Where are they?  Help!

I don't have this set, but I do have some of Horo's others. There is no automatic loading I think.

You'll find them in your content library under "General" - "Horo" - etc

You should find information on how to load them in the documents here (choose the one for the renderer you are planning to use) :

    • General/Horo/3 High Resolution HDRI Set 1/Documents/DS-3Delight-HDRIs.pdf
    • General/Horo/3 High Resolution HDRI Set 1/Documents/DS-Iray-HDRIs.pdf
  • Hi Melanie,  I found them listed under Horo as you suggested but none of them will open. In IM, the product name is not ticked....don't know what that means but does it affect things?

They load as an Environment map in Iray Render settings.

I'm familiar with loading differet environment maps in render settings because I have a few 'foreign' HDRIs and I have them in 'my library' which is where I unzipped them.  The question is where are these new HDRIs?  Where has IM put them?  I didn't get a chance to choose where to put them.

If you look in DIM under the Installed, left-click on the product in the list (to highlight it) then right-click and "Show Installed Files..." - this will bring up a window which shows exactly where the files have been put. (Sorry for the delay in replying, I left my PC for the evening)

I'm having the same issue after installing with DIM. Under Content Library, I can *see* the product, but cannot access any of it, not the product, nor the documentation on how to use the product. Why would Horo's products not have "automatic loading?" I've been wondering for some time why my lights and HDRIs are all over the place. I spend a lot of time trying to find things...

Edited to add: I put in a help ticket.

Hi Melanie, I tried that and it directs me to where I know the files should be.  I've attached a screen grab of what I see.  ie, a blank.  How do I contact the vendor?

These are HDRIs - images - that need to be loaded into the environment map. Use explorer and go to <your library>/General/Horo/3 High Resolution HDRI Set 1/Documents and read the pdf.

where would 'my library' be?  Under My Documents, I have My DAZ 3D Library and My DAZ 3D Connect Library and My Library but none of these seem to contain the DAZ main content.  So were should I look for to see where this product has been stored?

Like I said in my last post, the DIM will show you where it put things. In the screenshot below (which is for a totally different product, but the same idea applies) look at "Show Installed Files" and at the top (highlighted) it will give the full path to what was installed.

I install my files NOT to the default location but to a specific location on a secondary hard drive. Yours may be in "my library" as namffuak said, which would be somewhere in the documents folder of your user id, but either way that top line of "Show Installed Files" will show you exactly where to look.

ETA: But note that wherever you find the files, you still have to manually place the .hdr image of choice into the Render Settings - Environment parameters for Iray. The .pdf files included in the product should tell you how to do this.

Roger, try this: start DAZ Install Manager. Under the Installed tab, find the product. On the same line as the product name, to the far right is a small triangle. Hover over that and it turns blue. Click on it and choose Show Installed Files. That will give you actual links to where the files are stored. If you choose one of the .pdf files and click on it, you will be taken to Windows Explorer where you can open it, and there you will find the instructions on how to use the product within Studio (or whichever of the programs you are using). Hope this helps.

I will report back to this thread on what the help desk tells me regarding why this product isn't available to use through Smart Content or even the Content Library.

Hi Melissa,  Many thanks....I found them at last.  Why, oh why did Mr/Ms Horo make it so difficult to find?  I have over 1000 items in my DAZ contents folder and this is the only one that has caused me a problem.  Maybe DAZ need to be a bit more discriminating in accepting products into their shop window!angry

These appear to be slightly higher resolution versions of the HDRI files that were given away in the December holiday giveaway. I didn't have very good luck with the free ones. The lighting seemed surprisingly dark to me. I used a table and chair set from the I13 Iray Coffee Shop and Michael 7, with the latest Iray materials, rendered in the latest DS Beta 4.9.1.30. Even when M7 was moved into the bright area of the scene, he was dark. That looked weird.

Here are some examples that I rendered with the free ones.

  • OMGosh, you're right! I didn't realize, probably because I got the free version and promptly forgot about it - something easily done since I never encountered it while browsing through Smart Content or the Content Library. I only bought the set because of the outdoor HDRI to use as a background in my exterior renders; not at all interested in the others. But I do love the look of those trees, so I'll keep it. :)
