UberEnvironment2 and custom MAT's

This might be a really obvious question but...

I use the UberEnvironment2 lighting with the quality 3hi setting.  I need to apply a custom MAT file to a peice of clothing to show a logo, and it appears in the preview window correctly.  However, when i render, the custom addition vanishes.  It is there if i remove the UberEnvironment2 lights.  Is there a specific setting/trick to allow a custom MAT to bu used, and if so is it applied to the surfaces of the clothing or is it applied to the lighting preset?

Thanks in advance for any help!

How are you applying the new material - as an overlay or as a complete image?

  • As a complete image in the Surfaces tab.

Are you just swapping the Diffuse color map or are you building a whole new material preset?

Just swapping.  I get the feeling that may be the problem...

Just swapping the map shouldn't be affected by the light...

But, if the scene dumped to the temp folder isn't being updated  after the image swap, then it would still render with the original.  Removing the UE2 probably is forcing a rebuild of the scene in the temp folder.

You can save a material preset, restart Studio and reload the scene and then apply the preset, before doing the first render to see if that is the case.

Thank you for that.  I will give that a try!

  • That sorted it thank you!

Sometimes Studio is very lazy at updating image changes.  Doing more, like removing a light will almost always force the update.  So will saving and reloading.
