Mesh groups

Is it possible to cut the mesh in order to make custom groups or surfaces.

Can geografting or transfer utility help with that, or is there another way to do it?

You can use the Geometry Editor tool to create new surfaces, regions or face groups - note, however, that this may break some things (material presets, for example, won't know to affect new surfaces) and that you are effectively creating a new item which you will not be able to disctibute (unless you own the rights to the original item of course).

  • Thanks Richard.

I managed to create new groups with geometry editor, but not able to cut the mesh where nedded.

When you say "cut the mesh", what specifically are you looking to do?  Something like remove an arm and replace it with something else?

I dont want to add anything new, just remesh the existing mesh, cut through the polygons so that I can create new groups.

*Solved by creating a new topology and bringing it to daz as a new figure. I will not be distributing it so I guess thats ok.

You can make a copy of the area you want to remesh in a modelling software like Hexagon, then change the mesh as you would like it, then add the new mesh in DAZ Studio as a geograft.  You can also group the mesh of the geograft differently from the host model.
