Seeing Postgre SQL categories in Daz 4.9

I loaded Daz 4.9 and it does not complain about not loading PostgreSQL. Got past that bit. We got past the import 580000 files to creat the connect database also. Although the EDIT/PREFERNCES/CMS location and port number setting is the same in 4.9 as it was in 4.8 I can't see my categories and files. Maybe in 4.9 I'm not supposed to but got no reference to go on. As I spent years categorising thing I really want to see my categories. A number of threads I've read relate to something similar to this. Am I meant to export from the database in 4.8 and import in 4.9?

Is it just your custom categories, or are no categories showing at all?
Curiously I have about 7 files in a single category (ohia character) plus default categories showing. Browse to file location has the 7 showing in my main content directory so gives no clues as to why that gets picked up but nothing else. I also have a limited number of Products. Probable explanation is that these are the few files that are given as free content with Daz 4.9. The directory manager points to the same file locations as 4.8. My cms folder is not in default c:\user location but EDIT/PREFERENCES/CMS points to it. Daz 4.8 can see this OK so for some reason 4.9 not picking the location up.
Did you Export User Data in 4.8?
No not successfully. I tried following this thread
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/72620/content-library-categories-import-export-help#latest
but although I imported something it was short and scrappy not my categories. Are there any even more detailed threads on how to do this please?
I think the problem was although I knew where I was exporting from (Runtime support dsx files) not sure where DS 4.9 imported from.
It should use the first DS-format content folder.
Tried
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/72620/content-library-categories-import-export-help#latest
process again. 4 dsx files created by DS4.8 which were seen by DS4.9 and imported using Importing Metadata.
But result was that the Products category got better populated. I still dont see my categories.
I am using PostgreSQL not Valentina and DS 4.8 can seen them fine but missing some steps.
Migration:
Migration from the 4.8 (or earlier, assuming the PostgreSQL CMS is used) tables in the database, to the 4.9 tables, begins shortly after the initial launch of 4.9—before the opportunity to login to Daz Connect is presented. This migration is expected to preserve any custom products and/or categories that are already defined*. When metadata for the products associated with the "current" account has been installed through Daz Connect (automatic upon logging in), the migrated Vendor Data for those products is replaced (as described above).
*Note: A bug in the migration to 4.9.0.63 causes the products that do not define a ProductToken to fail. A separate but related bug causes products that do not define a valid StoreId to be assigned to the "DAZ 3D" store instead of the "LOCAL USER" store; increasing the likelihood of an overlap. Both of these bugs have been fixed in an upcoming build that is currently being validated via the Public Build channel.

I'm beginning to think what we are talking about 'Metadata Import" is not really the issue. According to above the mitration of categories is something DS4.9 should do but clearly it has not.
So I'm probably better off keep reloading DS 4.9 to see if this process will pick up.
I've spent over a day on this and I don't even want DS 4.9. I'm doing this to see if I can maintain compatibility with Daz even though they are going along a direction I dont want.
Think I'll give up for now and wait till Daz can figure out a workable Daz 4.9 installation process. Thanks Fixmypcmike for trying to help anyhow.
