Need Free Hair for Genesis 2 Female

Hello all,

I am just learning so be gentle and clear with your responses. So, I am looking for free hair for the Gen 2 female; however, everything I have found doesn't seem to fit and I don't understand when the instructions say (example) for V3 or V4 models. In fact, I don't even know what I should be looking for? Anyway, can someone point me to some free hair that will actually fit the Gen 2 female? Unfortunately, I don't know enough to do much as this is only my 2nd day and I'm still learning the navigation part. Thanks!

Moved to Product Suggestions as it's a request for, not an offer of, freebies.

    Hi mcj1016,

Your link leads to a tutorial for ZBrush which I do not have; however, if I missed the fact it could be used directly in Daz, then I apologize. Anyway, it got me started looking in the right places (I think). So, what I did was download a hair sample from here:

    http://www.sharecg.com/v/53465/browse/11/Poser/Quorra-Hair-for-V4-and-V3

Now, that hair didn't fit the Gen 2 Female (exactly) so I downloaded the refit option from here:

    http://www.sharecg.com/v/77745/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/8-Hair-Refits_G2F_V6?interstitial_displayed=Yes

Using this combination worked a treat for me. The hair was nicely refitted.

Thanks for your help. Now I'm off to look for more hair with refit options.

I found some free hair that I can work with here:

    http://digitalbabes.jp/

They are the best I could find IMHO. Note: On some (but not all) of the downloads, I had to rearrange the directory structure to work with Daz3D. The Daz3D error prompts help me do the rearrangement. A few examples are attached. Please understand I am only a beginner.

    Thanks.

Have you looked at any of the places that offer free Daz content? This thread has a big list of sites that offer free stuff. http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/478/list-of-freebie-websites

You can find a variety of free hair at ShareCG (just search for hair) and even places like Deviant Art. It does not have to be specifically for Genesis 2, either. You can easily auto fit <most> hairs from other figures to Genesis 2 right in Daz without much effort. So feel free to try a few that are not Genesis 2 if you like them.

The first post in that thread I linked is the hair conversion...

It's best to step through the generartions...convert it first to Genesis, then after simply fit it to the later generations, in order  so you would convert a Victoria 4 hair to Genesis then save it.  Then use the transfer utility (sometimes Autofit will work fine...just try it) to move to Genesis 2.

    Hi outrider42,

Thanks for the link to the freestuff thread. I'll be checking them out as I learn more. I had already explored the sharecg website and that's where I found a link to the hair I have started to use. However, the link you provided should make it much easier for me to find more things I can use as I learn. Thank you!

    Hi again mcj1016,

I missed your response. I guess we were both posting at the same time. Anyway, thanks for that additional tip!

In my experience the best way is not to convert them at all.  This is what I'm doing when you see me using Gen 4/G1 hairs on G2, or any previous hairs on G3:

    1.  Load figure.

    2.  Load hair.  Cancel if AutoFit comes up.

    3.  Double-click the figure and expand until you can see the head node in scene tab.

    4.  Drag the hair and drop it onto the head.

    5.  Select the hair and CTRL E to reset its position.

    6.  Use the translation and scale controls to fit the hair to the head.

Thank you SickleYield! I like your idea and will give it a try!

  • Hello all,

I just wanted to say thanks to all who responded. With that said, I think I have all the female hair I need. FYI, I got them all from this one website:

    http://digitalbabes.jp/

    Thanks again!
