Distribute function of the Align tab

Either i'm using it incorrectly or it's just broke.

While i can get the other functions to work properly, the Distribute function never seems to do anything when i press apply.

Doesn't matter if i have 2, 3 or 100 items selected and with various options selected.

Working with Studio 4.8 and latest release of 4.9.

any suggestions?

Is there any separation between the items you are selecting? Distribute spreads the selected items out, in the order in which they were selected, across the space they currently occupy so if they are all stacked up at one spot nothing will happen.

So they have to be offset from each other to begin with?

Tried it again, 3 cubes, offset by 100 in the x,y and z axis.

cube:100,0,0

cube2:0,100,0

cube3:0,0,100

when selected in order and selecting Distribut:X Axis origins, only cube 2 moves to 50,0,100.

is that what it's supposed to do?

My understanding is that if you set the start and end point of the distribution with the first and last items of the selection, it will then distribute the rest across the open space.

This might help explain:

Create 5 cubes at (0,0,0).  Move the just the fifth one to x=1000

Select all 5, and the use the align tool to distribute to X (Rights +x).

Thanks TJ, finally figured it out.

In this case it's 'Linear' Distribute.

Guess i'm used to a bit different definition of Distribute from other software i work with.
