Genesis Generation X2 and DS 4.9?

I'm trying to get Genesis Generation X2 (GenX2) to work in DAZ Studio 4.9 and can't figure it out.
As far as I can tell the plugin is installed correctly, looking at the plugin list it has a little green plg next to it. When I go to the GenX panel though the "source" and "load figure" buttons are greyed out. Looking under the warnings tab it says:
"No Source figure definitions found"
"No Target figure definitions found"
What am I missing? Or does it just not work in 4.9?

Out of the box GenX2 has support for Generation 4 figures and the first Genesis, are these the figures you're trying to use and are they installed? To get G2F/G2M support, you'll also need http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2 and support for the Genesis 3 figures hasn't been added yet.
All the figures are installed and I have and have installed all three GenX2 add-ons.
I've tried installing through DIM and manually, double checking the paths to DAZ Studio. All to no avail.
I want to go from V4 to any of the Genesis figures.
I may be remembering this wrong, so take it with a grain of salt. I had problems making it work in 4.8 until I (a) installed the Genesis X2 'clone' figures in the same content library that Genesis was in - and (b) made that library the first library in my DAZ Studio directories list. I'll take a look later tonight and see if it works in 4.9 under those circumstances.
I think I have the clone figures. I'll try installing them and see what happens. After my current test render finishes. ;)
I check my directory paths and my install paths are first. No luck. I'm not sure which "clone" figures you're talking about though. I have some clone figures from "slosh' installed but they aren't related to GenX2.
To go from V4 to Genesis 1, all you need is http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2, if you want to go from V4 to Genesis 2 then you'll also need http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2. There is no GenX method for Genesis 3 yet.
Since you mentioned you installed via DIM, is your correct Daz Studio install location mapped? Cogwheel upper right of DIM > Applications tab. You'll need to make sure there's an entry there for Daz Studio 4.5+ and that it is mapped to the correct location. Also, if your DS is 32bit, you need the 32bit version of the addon, same for 64bit versions.
Have you embraced DAZ Connect and have rebuilt your content library over and reinstalled all of your Genesis Essential packs (Genesis and Genesis 2 and Genesis 3) with DAZ Connect? If that is the case, GenX2 won't find any Genesis source figures.
Edit: Opps..
Ah, yes I have. I started with a completely new install of DAZ Studio and installed everything from scratch with Connect. I'll try installing the Essential packs with DIM and see what happens.
I've tested that and it will get you to see the base figures, unfortunately, any add-on mophs (and I know there are tons) have to be installed with DIM too so they will be added to the Genesis figure's morph folders
Success! I reinstalled the Genesis Esentials pack through DIM and it still didn't work. Then I remembered that I was using the Public Beta, I switch back to the regular 4.9 and it worked!
How does that work with morphs that aren't from DAZ and thus don't have a DIM installer? I'm hoping to get Blackhearted's old Aiko 19 morph into Genesis.
It doesn't work currently with Connect installs, but should be fine with manual installs of third-party products.
Are you saying that GenX and all Genesis products for it have to be installed with DIM and not Connect in order for GenX2 to work properly?
GenX does not need to be installed to get GenX2 working, actuallly I've read several times that having both installed causes problem. And Connect can't install plugins right now so GenX2 need to be installed with DIM.
And yes, apparently GenX2 doesn't see Genesis/G2F morphs installed via Connect, so you'd need to install the base figures and morphs via DIM or manually if you want to use it.
Oops meant GenX2 , I hope it all gets worked out so everything can be installed with connect and work correctly soon. I guess I could just go DIM only but that defeats the purpose of being able to use Connect the way it was intended
So wait... I just spent how much money and this does not work with Connect?
It didn't work at the time (last March), but has been updated since then.
I had this same problem and that's why I'm here. I just want to say that it was just that the program was installed in the wrong place. I reinstalled it in the folder My DAZ 3D Library and everything reworked the way it should, regonising the figures I have, such as Genesis, Genesis 2, and Genesis 3. Is easy to solve but if you have little knowledge is a mess. But it's that easy, just install it in that folder following your personal one. Mine was D:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ3D\My DAZ 3D Library before that I installed it in D:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ3D\My DAZ 3D Library\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 and it worked but it didn't recognised the figures, so remember: My DAZ 3D Library and stop there. Your problem is solved that easy.
Somewhere along the line - probably as a result of installing the Beta 4.9 while leaving 4.8 installed in a different place, GenX stopped working, even in 4.8 (obviously, the plugin isn't installed into the beta 4.9). No source figures or target figures found; and 'Error reading definition: Victoria4.gxs (etc)'. This is on a Mac, and the file DAZ 3D/Studio4/GenX1/Victoria4.gxs does exist, though it has an unexpected (to me) modification time of June 3.
Is there a way out of this? I know that the dual-install thing is frought with dangers, but...?
I can't seem to find solutions to this problem of 'No Source figure definitions found' and 'No Target figure definitions found' also.
I have tried reinstalling the genx2 program from the store and it crashes when I try to reinstall.
If you install content with DAZ Connect, GenX2 was updated to scan for genesis morphs and figures in the Daz Connect folder. If this is you, tell GenX2 where your Daz Connect folder is:
1. In GenX2. Click on the Connect Path button and point it to your Daz Connect Folder. If you don't know where that is, look at your Content Directory Manager Daz Connect folder setting.
2. Exit Daz Studio and restart Daz Studio.
3. In GenX2, Click on the Source button and you should see the Genesis figures.
Rats, no, I don't use DAZ Connect, I use DIM. There's something more sinister going on with mine-
My Source button et al. are all greyed out and unusable.
I had the exact same problem this morning. Turned out it was because I was using the Beta. Downloaded and installed Daz studio (release version) and ran into a second problem. Basically in DIM, Daz Studio (release version) in the settings button, two paths were pointed to that one app. I deleted one of the paths and was FINALLY able to install Gen X2 via DIM. Then the warnings tab disappeared and genesis 1/2/3 showed up in Source dropdown. I assume it also relies on content directory being mapped properly.
You're problem may not be caused by the same thing as mine, but the symptom was the same.
Sorry to necro this topic, but I've just spent the last half hour trying to figure out what I'd done wrong.
Problem: GenX tab buttons are dimmed out.
Background: Wiped and resinstalled my Win10 machine recently. I've been using the Beta of Daz 4.10. My library is on a seperate hard drive. Reinstalled some of my content using DIM, but (obviously) not all of it. One of my problems was that the GenX tab was useless. The buttons dimmed out.
At some point, I thought I'd managed to configure DIM to install everything in the right place, but I did something wrong. Still not sure what.
Solution: I found all the GenX2 data files burried under C:\Users\[UserName[\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\GenX2. I needed to copy them maually to C:\Users\[User name]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 Public Build\GenX2. Once I did that (and restarted Daz Studio) everything worked fine.
Fisrt, I don't know which thread I should post this question, or if I should create a new thread for this. I hope someone can help me. I tried to transfer a morph from G3M to G3F. When I try to load G3M by clicking on the source button, I get this in the loading window,
GenX - Loading figure: Genesis 3 Male
Loading figure ...
C:/Users/Tim Blythe/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis 3/Male/Genesis3Male.dsf
Error parsing geometry.
However I notice when I load G3F by clicking on the source button, in the loading window instead of C:/Users Tim Blythe/Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis3/Genesis3Male.dsf, it says C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library/data/DAZ 3D/Genesis3/Genesis3Female.dsf. For G3M and G3F, I have them both in Public Documents, not in my named documents. How can I change where the plugin looks for G3M?
After spending over an hour trying to get GenX2 to work (the Source button was greyed out), your solution above has worked.
Thank you very much. Now I just need to find out how to get Victoria 4 to be recognised.
