Whats the Difference?

Whats the difference between the Multi Plane Cyclorama, the Woodland Playset and the Millenium Environment?  Each texture says that you need all three but they seem to be three completely separate props.

The difference is sophistication of the stage.

Cyclorama is a simple background with perhaps a couple placards on which to display images of bushes or flowers etc in the foreground.

Woodland Playset is more sophisticated in that it has more placards and a wider screen

Millenium Environment is the most sophisticated of the three and has placards, a big screen and has multiple sections "layers" to the screen so you can have a layer with clouds separate from the trees and sky.  Handy for animating the clouds.

One of the latter two also has a skydome.

Do you need all three?  No.  If a texture set says it "requires" all three product it really means that it contains the appropriate textures for each of the products.  It took me a while to catalog all the various texture sets for those three background sets and which texture product has textures for which model set.  In the end I rarely look, I just pick a texture design and use whatever models it will work with and plan my image around that.  At one time I had my customized categories nicely set up so that each background set had all my textures neatly listed with it, but after a boogered DAZ Studio upgrade my categories got lost and I haven't bothered to go through all the work to recategorize them again. crying

Ah thank you!  I have all three I just wasn't sure WHY I had all three lol.   I am a category fiend myself and I totally feel your pain!  My upgrade on the PC went okay, I do have some stuff that is missing but it wasn't too overwhelming.  I have, however, managed to lose my entire categories twice now due to newbie user errors.  Took me weeks to get everything back together so I was terrified to do the 4.9 upgrade.  Ugh, I feel so bad for those of you who lost all that work with the upgrade. (at least you didn't do it to yourself)

  • I really appreciate this thread.  I am trying to organize and understand all of my files since my retirement LOL
