DAZ Studio 4.9 install

I installed DS and have it partially working. The Smart Content is quite slick and my DAZ product I have purchased shows up. I want to add prodcut that I purchased from Renderosity and Runtiem DNA manually but can't figure it out. I am sure I have me of the paths screwed up. I have attahced screen captures and would welcome any help. I am a long time Poser user tryign to leave the darkside move towards the light

A couple of issues:

The entry for "Daz Connect Data" should stop at "My Daz Connect Library" -- it shouldn't go one folder deeper to "Data"

Only the first 2 entries for "Daz Studio Formats" should be there -- remove the rest

You dont have the "Poser Formats" section expanded -- it should include the same first 2 entries as are under "Daz Studio Formats", plus any other folders containing Poser runtimes if your Rendo/RDNA content isn't installed to one of those 2.

Am I the only one irked that they still use the Windows 95 'My Folder' convention to name things? Well whose folder would it be and anybody else reading it is going to read 'My' too.

I'm liking the Smart Content better. They keep updating it to work better with DAZ Studio 4.9 with an uUpdate button in the Smart Content tab although what needs updating doesn't always succeed in updating. It's mostly been Genesis & Genesis 2 content so far.

Content can be installed anywhere except UAC protected folders Program Files, Program Files (x86) and ProgramData.  The content library can be named anything you want, although very long names can be a problem.  You can have more than one library so as to keep content from different sites separate, the exception being DAZ generation 4 figures as they need all morph files installed to the same library as the figures (which is why I recommend giving them their own library).

I cleaned up directories as you suggest and the content from my DAZ account is showing in Smart Content. I still don't know how to add third party content to my content library. What I did was create a directory after: Users/Rob/My Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio and called it Library and in that I added subdirectories data, People and Runtime. Thought I could put a path to it but am lost or even not sure if that si the right thing to do. Ahain being a long time Poser user I am problaby off base. I have added screen captures as before

In the Content Directory Manager select Daz Studio Formats and then click Add...then navigate to the folder you added (Users/Rob/My Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/Library).  Repeat for Poser formats.

That will put all the content in the Content Library, you'll have to manually add it to Smart Content...as it isn't likely to come with metadata to automatically go there, too.

I just installed the update to 4.9.1 I loaded in the scene that I have been working for the past several days. I adjusted a spot light intensity setting to 200% and attempted to render the scene using 3delight. The program crashed. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

i have just installed daz 4.9 opend it and let it migrate all my content from 4.8. now i just tried to install some new content from renderocity. i unzipped the file and copied the runtime to my library as i did in 4.8 then went to scan known directorys is i allways have and let it scan. no joy it will not find the content i just put in. i have tried this over and over with 5 difrent products and even tried each content runtime multiple times. (i get the overwright warning so i know its in there) and still daz 4.9 will not identify my content as new and when you have a runtime that is over 100 gigs i dont have the time or the patiance to manuly hunt down new content. why will the new daz not highlight it as the old daz did. or what am i doing wronge in 4.9 that was not wronge in 4.8

ok so now, if i install third party cntent say from renderocity that does not have meta data how do i find it. there is no new list in products they dont show up in local user and at least my computer has not shown me a way to identify the 30 new products i installed yesterday in my content libratry. it seem that daz has gone out of there way to make installing anything not bought in the daz 3d store as dificult as possible. iuf there is a way to find these items please explain it in detail. the link you referd me to is gibberish. it talks strickly about daz content without meta data. and as i have said the content from other venders is just not showing up anywere that i can figure out.

"Scan Known Directories For Content" will put the new items in the category Default > Scan Results.  If you want it to show up in Smart Content you will need to create metadata for it.
