I'm curious; I see in preferences, there is the DSON cache, and the option to clear it; what exactly does it do, and why might one need or want to clear it?

No one knows I see.
I saw that the cache was repopulated (when I installed the SQL components I had uninstalled) after clicking on reimport. Obviously I cleared the cache and uninstalled the SQL components again. :)
So now I think I know.
It is, as far as I know, a cache for the geoemtry and rigging data from the asset files. If a morph or base shape isn't loading correctly after an update clearing the cache may be suggested.
Thanks, Richard.
I'm not seeing any difference in functionality with it disabled and unable to function, but it does server a purpose with regards to smart content. I didn't use smart content before 4.9, and have disabled all I could in 4.9. It would be good to know what it does do though.
