GPU options

I have read the tech recomendations for graphic cards for Daz Studio but I am on a tight budget as I have just had to replace my PSU and motherboard and I think my GPU is on its way out too.

So quick question, which is better a 4gig GeForce card or a 2gig GeForce card that has twice the CUDA cores as the 4gig card?
I know the recomendation is to have a 4 gig card but I also read CUDA cores are importnat too

The Cuda cores won't help if the scene won't fit in the card's Vram. A 2 GB card will have about 1.5 GB available for the scene. 1.5 Gb won't fit more than a single character with a simple backdrop (or HDRI) and simple clothing.

OK so let me see if I am understanding this right......my current card is a Geforce GT630 with 1gb and I regularly render scenes with more than one character and complex environments so that means my GPU isnt doing the rendering it is the CPU on its own?

(I'm talking D3Delight not Iray by the way)

3Delight never uses the GPU for rendering...so it doesn't matter.

The Nvidia card is only needed to use the GPU rendering features of Iray.

Note that Iray will render CPU only when the GPU doesn't have enought VRam
