A Quick Way to Zero out a Hand?

If I have a hand somewhat twisted up as a result of bending fingers, side-siding some, and I want the hand to return to a standard neutral position, is there a quick way to do that in the Parameters tab?

Well, if you don't have a Pose Preset to reset the hand, you can try this:

    1. Select the hand in the Scene pane.
    2. Right click and select Expand from Selected.
    3. Select the hand and all finger segments in the Scene pane.
    4. In the Parameters context menu select Zero Selected Item(s) Pose. (I do this with Consolidate Properties checked and Display Separate Items unchecked.)

OK, thank you. What does checking Consolodate Properties do? Why uncheck Display Separate Items?

Checking Consolidate Properties and unchecking Display Separate Items combines the settings for all selected items into a single control for each property. So there is one control that changes all Bend settings at once, one control to change all Twist settings at once, etc. Display Separate Items determines whether each selected item is listed on the left side of the Parameters pane. Play around with them and you will see. The best setting depends on what you are trying to do. If you want to easily change lots of things to the same value at once, Consolidate Properties is useful.

For G3F, there are some reset poses at ShareCG; if I can find the name I'll add it, they are great for resetting hand, arm, let etc.

I think these are the ones.

    Here's what I do ...

Right-Click on the hand in the Scene tab and go to Select > Select Children.

Then, in the Parameters tab, Alt-Click on each of the movement translations (Alt-Click returns the parameter to default - usually zero).

Once all parts are select press Ctrl-e to reset, there is probably a similar key command for Macs.

CTRL-e (Mac CMD-e) is even better - thank you :)

Just revisited the other similar thread and reminded myself how to set custom keyboard shortcuts. So now I have a shortcut Shift-CMD-e to select all children (of, for example, the Left Hand) and then CMD-e to reset those children.

ONe more option - rather than clicking them all individually, once you have the children selected go to the parameters menu dropdown and select zero>selected items>pose

For every figure I commonly use, I always dig up as many zero/reset poses as I can find (and create any I can't find), copy them into a common folder, and then organize the names so they sort properly. Then I right-click each pose and create a custom action, and then go to edit>customize and organize the script menu. Last step is to save it all via Window>Workspace.
