I just bought this today with poolside:

However, there is no home... :( Which product do I need to get the actual house in the background?

There are lots of things you need to get the full house, each room is a separate product, basement one, garage one, kitchen, living room, pool, driveway and so on, the actual house is not 1 product, search for "dream home" and they should pop up in the search result.

And the one you reference above is just a texture set, the pool itself is a different product that I assume you already got ( http://www.daz3d.com/dream-home-yard-and-pool ), there are different texture sets for the house itself also.

In http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/9663/ you can find a layout map of the dream home.

If your installing with DIM all you have to do is go to the installed tab and select the pack. RT click on it and select "Show Installed Files" If your installing manually you will need to go to the readme and get it from there. Go to teh item page and copy down the sku and look it up here.

It would seem like a good idea for them to sell just the exterior of the house as a single product, so customers can buy that if it's all they need. Shelling out for all of it just to render the outside seems like a hard sell.

The only problem there is, the outside of the Dream Home full set is covered with big windows. I've done looking-at-the-house-from-outside setups, and the room interiors are very visible from pretty much every viewpoint.

I actually made a shell, you just put a lot of reflection on the windows

The best way to buy the parts is during a massive PC+ sale, I have pretty much all the Dreamhome and furnishing fixtures textures but got all the bits heavily discounted in various sales.

Do not think I paid 1.99 for any if them

Thanks guys. I didn't realize it was so much to buy. I just wanted that backyard scene just like in the picture.

if you download the full size of this render you could stick it on a plane

is a png with an alpha channel you can prob make a mask for it in photoshop or gimp

is not eclectic one though I have not done a full preload for those textures yet

Thanks a lot man. I'll give that shot. I have a few props, but nothing that looks like a normal house.

I looked at buying the house but I couldn't even figure out if I had all the pieces to complete the house without overlap so I dumped them out of my shopping cart into my wishlist.

I bought it bit by bit over several years just getting adjoining rooms then the roof bits

Not sure what you mean by "overlap" — if you search the store for "dream home" you get every one of the actual room parts, all the Eclectic texture expansions, all (I think) of the furniture sets, most of the furniture Eclectic textures, and most of the pose sets (these are only for Generation 4 figures). The only things this search won't catch are a few of the furniture texture and pose sets, that don't have the precise words "dream home" on the store page.

Note that, since all these items are in the Platinum Club, they're all $1.99 each for PC+ members. They were released in ones and twos over more than a year, so us old-timers didn't have a problem buying the lot (eventually). The whole thing started with the Great Room, and the last actual structure part was the Front Drive, although a few more pose sets and the Poolside garden furniture were released now and then over the next few years.

There are Eclectic rooms, London rooms, and there seems also to be 'plain' rooms that were not Eclectic or London such as Children's Bedroom and so on. I would have liked a bundle that included everything but the furniture and appropriate material presets for the furniture style selected. The complete house should have nice material presets already applied so you could also use other furniture.

For me something that should have been created as a simple Mansion was made overly complicated and a lot of work to buy. It was easier to buy the real house I live in than try to figure out what to buy with the Dream Mansion. No blueprints no map of the yard no small curbside segment of street to attach it too...

Collecting beanie babies was easier when that was in vogue.

That's exactly what I meant by not overlapping — look a bit more closely at the Required Products section of the store pages. The Eclectic and London items are NOT rooms, they're texture (and only texture) expansion sets for the "plain" rooms. You must have the original room item, which contains the actual object data, before you can use one of the Eclectic or London items.

And looking at the London items has reminded me, they aren't even for rooms anyway, they're sets of furniture to go into the rooms. The whole Dream Home collection is a bit complicated, you really must read the store pages very carefully, particularly Required Products.

Except I've done that for many DAZ Store products and some products are missing requirements for what you have to have to use that product, and I'm not necessarily even talking about the Dream Home collection here though. And how can you know when a Dream Home is complete when no were is a definite blueprint for all the rooms in the house or an illustration the labels all the pieces pieced together? I will stick to the 9 room bungalows and suburban houses.

Try this forum post which lists the basic rooms and the add-on textures (it's a long post so keep reading): http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/139469/#Comment_139469

ETA: Actually that's a bit old so the links to the shop don't work (they changed the shop naming convention) although the other information still applies - I'll attach an updated list here as soon as I can.
