Help with animation problem and posing

FrankTheTankFrankTheTank Posts: 1,131

I have a figure which I am trying to animate, as soon as I apply a pose, the figure moves across the x & y axis, which is what I do NOT want.

I just want the pose to happen in place, where the figure currently is located. If I do apply the pose and then move the figure back where it should be using x & y positioning,  it screws everything up in my animation, so this is not an option.

If anyone understands what I am asking, please help. I'm pulling my hair out here. Its really making it impossible to do any kind of complex animation unless I keep a figure dead center in the x y z coordinates.

I guess what I am essentially asking: is there a way to recalibrate the "red green blue axis tool" (the thing with the arrows) so that it is where your figure currently is located, and not where it thinks it should be (at 0,0,0).  (Not sure if that is any clearer or not. But I'm sure someone who animates has had this issue.)

Are these poses of your own making or third-party poses? It sounds as if they have been saved with translation on the hip, which should not be the case (other than for keeping the feet on the floor or for offsets in a multi-figure pose). You could resave them, after zeroing the hip translations, or you coudl select the child bones of the hip (which will depend on the figure), hold down the ctrl(win)/cmd(Mac) key while double-clicking the preset and from the dialogue choose Selected as the Node and Recursive as Propagation.

Yes, these are 3rd party poses. Ok, that explains it. These particular poses are for levitating a ghost-like figure, hence the hip translations. So I just need to zero the hips and then should be able animate the figure vertically with puppeteer.  Thanks for the tip!

Just confirmed, the control click while double-clicking the pose was exactly what I needed! Such a simple thing, but a huge help!
