If I use the Install Manager, where do these files go??? I want to put them in a special folder for all my 2D stuff...

I'm not sure where they would go if you don't define the folder/location of PS.
I have a folder on one of my Hard drives which is just called brushes, and I unzip them to that, and load them into PS when I need to use them.
I think you can set the same up through DIM, I'll have to check, as I seldom use DIM so I'm not entirely sure how configurable where it installs to is....
I bought a LOT of Rons brushes so hoping I could use the DIM... I'm still not sure how the DIM works.... I've used it for G2 content for Poser and that goes into My Daz library but don't know how to redirect location...
DIM is simple enough to install Rons products. (usually brush or sahpe set)
You only need to set Your Photoshop path, in DIM Configuration setting,(click Right Topside Gear icon in DIM) >Applications.
After that DIM install Ron package as "Preset" directory.
I am GImp User,, then I smply tell my store directory for GImp (brush orv pattern etc) as Photo shop path ,, to manage and separate DIM install products.
(so that,, I need manually copy and paste my brush path. but all product about phot shop by DIM should install there,, then I can manage them easy,, and manually delete, if I need,, from real brush path,,)
And if you have not used DIM to download Photho shop item,,
you may need to check DIm configuration>Downloads>Photoshop too.
(I do not know,, it really need or not, but may be it work as filter to visible content as downloads ,,)
Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of DIM.
Go to the Applications tab
Click + to add a new application
Set it to Photoshop, any version and bit if you are just installing brushes to a convenient location
Click the .. button and select your brush folder.
Accept back to the main interface and the brushes should install.
Gee...how did I know that Richard would know that without having to go through the steps first?
I was about 1/3 the way through doing it.
Suggestion: It's a good idea to NOT put user files in a program folder, Adobe products or otherwise. Photoshop will accept presets there (the "old" way), but also in the Roaming folder for your user name (the new way):
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop XX
where [username] is your logged in user name, and XX is the version of Photoshop you are targeting. The latest cloud versions are CC.
But I don't do it this way, either. By placing them into the Presets folder, all the files junk up the pulldown menus and add clutter if you have hundreds of files. (Leave the Presets folder to just those you commonly use.) You could always categorize them into folders, but you can also simply manually load the presets you want, when you want them. In that case, you can place them *anywhere*. I put them in a "Manually Load" folder off my Documents folder, so I can easily manage them at any time. Photoshop remembers the location of this folder, so after navigating to it once, it will always return there the nex time you load a preset.
All I wanted was some gd brushes! Now I'm waiting to download who knows what that I don't want or need. And after that I won't know where my brushes are. I just want to use them in Photoshop and no I don't want them automatically installed into PS! I just want my brushes!
