Content mixup

I have a pretty big mess when it comes to my daz studio content, most of which is my doing I think. I changed from 32 bit daz to 64 bit and now I have some  orphan folders in my program files.

In my x86 programs I have Daz and Daz 3d in my 64 bit programs I have Daz 3d . I'm not sure what to keep and what to discard. I have dson importer to use with Poser 10 which is 32 bit. Does that relegate me to using 32 bit Daz Studio?

My content was mostly erased when I switched over but the install manager is showing a lot of things installed which are not there. Also I tried to install some new things and I am not at all sure they went to the right spot. I am wondering if I should delete everything and start over :(

Here is a screen shot of the new things I attempted to install.

Can you go to Install Manager, click the gear (settings) icon in the upper right, and post a screenshot of the Installation tab?

Are you saying that DIM is still showing them as installed even though they were erased (which it should, since you didn't uninstall them), or that new things you install with DIM aren't there?

DSON Importer and Daz Studio are completely independent, you don't need to have the same bit depth.

  • Thanks for the help :) The install manager was showing a bunch of stuff installed that wasn't. It's not now though I honestly can't say how I did that. Now it shows only the new stuff. Unfortunately i can't find any of it in the program. The files are still zipped in the first image I sent.

  • sorry, the image didn't stick!

  • having one of those days.... its attached now

Please replace that with a full-size image so that it is readable.

  • My apologies.

That shows only the default DIM location - My DAZ 3D Library in the Public Documents folder. Your earlier screenshot shows several possible content directories in the \DAZ 3D\Studio folder in your private documents folder instead. Which directories do you have selected in DAZ Studio itself? Edit>Prefrrences>Content Library tab>Content Directory Manager button and expand the entries under Current.

  • Thanks for having a look. I've attached an image of the current list

If you go to Content Library > Daz Studio Formats > My Daz 3D Library, do you see any of the items you installed with DIM?

  • Nothing there ...

Can you go to the DIM Installed tab, right-click on an item, and choose "Show Installed Files"?

  • Thanks for your patience  :)

If you right-click on one of the items and select Show Installed Files you will get a list of the files installed, with the folder containing them listed at the top.

  • All of the above are in Public\Documents. In addition I found a bunch of stuff in my private user documentsCan I combine all this stuff in one place or the other?

Are they listing one of the folders in ?

  • Sorry, I think I am being dense here, not quite sure I'm  understanding the question.  Most of the content is in Users/DonF/Documents and inside the program under the alphabetical list a lot of things show but when I click on them, it says  it can't install because the files do not exist.

Pick an example (or a few) that isn't loading and post its full path here please.

  • In the case of the Genesis 2 Male - In addition to  what my original image shows there are files  Users\DonF\Documents\Daz 3D\Studio|My Daz 3D Library\People\Genesis 2 Male (undr that are anatomy, characters, clothing, hair, materials, poses, Genesis 2 Male.duf and Genesis 2 Base Male.png

    Ah, you don't have that set as a content diectory. You have Users\DonF\Documents\Daz 3D\Studio|My Library\ and Users\Public\Documents\My Daz 3D Library\ but not Users\DonF\Documents\Daz 3D\Studio|My Daz 3D Library\.

  • Good catch, thanks! Can I add that at this point and if so, how do I do that? I tried but I think I am missing a step...

Either use the Add button in the Content Directory Manager or just right-click on DAZ Studio Formats in the Content Library pane and select the Add New Base Directory option. You probably want to add it under Poser Formats too.

  • Many thanks, I believe this has me sorted now. I very much appreciate your help.
