Deleting animation

How do I delete animation from a scene?
Example: I start with an original scene, containing one figure, that has one frame in the timeline. I add ten frames to the timeline, then change the figure pose in frame #10, thus creating some simple animation. Then I save the scene.
Now, I want to revert that scene back to the original scene (frame #1 only, with no additional frames, and no animation). I re-open the scene, set the total number of frames from 11 back to 1, and save the scene. Now it *looks* like I've accomplished what I wanted: I see one figure, in its original pose, with only a single frame. But if I now set to total number of frames to 11 in order to create new animation, I see that it does not create 10 new frames, but instead recreates the 10 frames (and resulting animation) that I had previously deleted.
I'm running DAZStudio4 on a MacBookPro, but I've had this problem for every previous version of DAZStudio as well.

In the Parameters pane option menu, which you get by clicking the button in the top corner or by right-clicking on the tab, there is a command to Clear animation sub-menu with various options. Just make sure you are in frame zero when you use it as it will keep the settings that are applied in the current frame.
I can't believe the answer was so simple ... Thanks!
I'm trying to do the same thing, but various menu options appear to only move objects around in the scene and don't reduce the number of frames. (I'm unfamiliar with animation, it animated by accident somehow.)
Alternately I only have 31 frames; is there a way to just manually delete them?
It should be enough to select everything and then use the Clear animation command.
In the scene pane, I expand everything, then select everything. In the Timeline pane, I see that "Current" is 0 (frame zero) In the Parameters pane, I select "Clear Animation" > "Clear selected item(s)". Am I missing any other steps?
No, that should be it.
I've just realized that even if you open a new empty scene, it still shows 30 frames in the Timeline... I think at this point the animation really is gone from my scene after all; it is no longer animating when I send to Bryce. Not sure why things move around when I try this step (unnecessarily) now, but it's no longer an issue. Sorry to clutter the thread!
I have a similar problem: daz3d V 4.6. I have selected select all and clear animation pose, and figure, which reset everything, which is NOT what I wanted. All I wanted to do was to delete the animation! Still, after doing that I have 30 frames in the animation window. Why isn't there an easy and simple way to delete animations? I even shut down daz and restarted; reloaded the last scene and it still had animation frames in it. It seems there is no way to do this simple operation, or daz has hidden the obvious solution so deep it can't be found.
The animation window has no aniblocks listed, only the 30 frames. Where is it getting these frames from in the first place? This problem has cost a few hours trying to fix, and a complete loss of the scene I was building. There are no tracks or sub-tracks showing either, so what is it trying to animate?
I don't know how my animation appeared in the first place since I have never animated anything, but wondered if it could somehow be related to dynamic clothing? (could the process of draping frame after frame somehow have become an animation?)
In my animation tracks, or sub-tracks? It shows props, besides figures (which I did not add) in the list. How did they get there? DANGER!! Do not set the timeline to 0 in the range of frames (0 to 29), DAZ will crash! If I set it to 0 to 1 it still animates figures one frame! Even if I delete (using the minus sign) which says delete track or sub-track for the selected object the figure still is animated if I press play. Removing every track and sub-track with the minus sign, still animates the figure. How can it animate if there is no figure or object in the animate list? Again if I use clear animation-clear figure or clear figure pose the figure won't move anymore, but the 30 frames remain.
The Daz Studio Timeline Defaults to 30 frames at Open. It does not mean you HAVE a animation made. You only have a Zero Frame until you add key frames on the timeline. The 30 frames is Normal. To see IF you have made a Animation just SCRUB across the timeline with the frame pointer, yellow down Arrow thing. If Nothing moves you do not have anything except frame zero. Be sure to move it BACK to zero Though.
And the Above Post by Richard is HOW to properly remove animations. Note: Be SURE AniMate is Also CLEAR, it also can hold anything on it when you save a Scene at Frame zero.
Thanks for the info about the 30 frames, it was driving me crazy trying to get rid of it! I think I have found part of the problem with not being able to remove an animation from a figure no matter what I clear in the menus. I tracked down the file and found it was a pz2 file. This means it's a poser pose/animation file right? With a hex editor I found refFigure JamesG2 near the top of the file. I know I don't have any such figure. Also the file was about 129,000,000 bytes in size, but in hex view I found most of it was 0d0a after some text and ending brackets. I cut most of the file, (now only about 4,000,000 bytes), and the animation worked the same as it did before! Something is definitely wrong with this file.
Does daz 4.6 fully support pz2 animation files? I was able to add aniblocks to the end of the animation, and remove them easily with the trash can, (thanks for that info guys). If daz doesn't support pz2 animation files, is there a way to convert them,or is it worth the time an effort? Thanks in advance.
Pz2 animations should work fine in DS. It sounds to me like whomever saved that file had dead frames at the end and never cleared them before the save. Keep in mind most poser animations will be for Gen3 and Gen4 figures and my not work 100% on the Genesis figure.
Thanks for the info. Sounds about right since the animation works the same after I deleted most of it.
I've read through this post and still have no idea how to remove animations from my figure, from the timeline. The little menu under right-click Parameters has options that, when tried, do not actually remove any ainimations, unless maybe they also remove any shape applied to the human figure.
I must say this a serious weakness in the DAZ Studio interface design.
Why can't I just right-click on the timeline and get a menu option that explicitly says "Delete animation, movements only" or "Clear timeline of all inimations, movements only"?
There should be a clear animation data in the Edit>Figure/Edit>Object menu and in the Parameters pane option menu,
The above (clear animation data) doesn't work at all for me. Not only that, but Genesis 2 and 3 figures that no animation was applied to start animating.
Please give some more details.
There is a really simple trick you can do in Daz Studio.
BANG! all keyframes gone. Repose character ( s ) if needed by going to:
Edit > Figure > Zero > Zero Figure Pose
And you good to go again!
Good luck!
