Coverting Iray to 3Delight or vice versa

Is it possible to somehow convert an iray uber shader to 3delight daz default shader within a few clicks? I am curious cause I am creating some products that have many many material presets and I cam curious that once I create them all for 3delight or iray if I can atleast copy and convert them. At that point I can save them out etc.

No, there isn't a an easy one click solution going from Iray to 3Delight...but going from 3Delight to Iray can happen by a built in autoconversion process..it's just better to manually set up proper Iray presets than rely on the automatic conversion...some times it is just wrong and others it's not the best choice.

  • That is what I thought actually =/. Either way I do appreciate your reply. I also agree that with auto conversion stuff can go wrong and that it might just be better to setup the materials by hand to ensure it all goes 100% correctly. Thanks again though!!!

Yeah, some of the maps might come across right, particularly Iray to Ubersurface, though a lot of things have to be turned back on. I find it helpful to duplicate the object, convert, and use the copy as a reference.
  • Yes all I do is have the default 3DL shader and right click to apply ignore maps it only get you the defuse and bump but it's something !
