Weird Effect from Hexagon Bridge Morph for Victoria 7
Hi All,
I'm trying to create a Victoria 7 morph for DAZ Studio, using Hexagon. Here are the steps I followed:
1) Open DAZ Studio to new scene and load V7 character.
2) Select V7 and then File>Send to Hexagon.
3) In Hexagon, select V7, then switch to Select Faces and use Lasso mode to select a ring of faces (polys) around V7's neck.
4) Rescale (yellow box in Hexagon) inward slightly, so the neck looks compressed.
5) Switch to Select Object and again select V7, then File>Send to DAZ Studio.
6) This prompts me to create a morph (I named it TightCollar) and opens DAZ Studio, with the TightCollar morph available and set to 0. So far, so good.
But when I select the TightCollar morph and slide it to 100% (the 'full' setting of the morph I created) the morph 'compresses' V7's neck ... and also affects the rest of her body. She looks emaciated and the curves between her polys lose their smoothness.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help,
CrissieB

You need to reverse out the V7 morph from your new morph - as it is you are applying the Victoria 7 shape (and any other morphs set) twice. If possible, which it should be here, it's better to work from the zeroed shape (Edit>Figure>Zero>Zero Figure), but if you use the Advanced controls for the Hexagon bridge (Edit>Preferences>Interface>Bridges>Hexagon>Show Advanced Options) there is an option under the morph labelled reverse Deformations - turn that on and only the changes made in hexagon will be included in the morph.
Hi Richard,
Okay, zeroing the shape solved the problem. Now, how do I find that morph from another scene, so I can apply it to my Victoria 7-based character?
Thanks,
CrissieB
File>Save as>Support Assets>Moprh Asset will let you save the morph so that it loads with any Genesis 3 Female figure. The names you enter in the dialogue box determine where the asset files go (\Data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 3\Female\Morphs\Author\Product\MorphName.dsf).
Thank you for your help, Richard! Is there any way to change the name of a morph, once I've saved it? At the initial Morph Loader dialog I thought 'Morph' was the type of asset rather than the name that asset, so I left it as-is. So now my morph is named simply 'Morph.' I tried changing it through File Manager, but when I opened DAZ again it's still just 'Morph.'
If not, is there a way to delete it and start over?
Thanks,
CrissieB
You can edit the morph's properties by clicking the gear icon at the end of the slider and selecting Parameter Settings. Then you'd need to resave it (don't use Save Modified Assets as that seems to pick up too much).
Thank you again, Richard!
One more question (for now)....
I went back and made the morph on Genesis 3 Female rather than Victoria 7. I'm not sure if that was needed to make sure it would apply to any G3F-based figure, but by working from G3F I didn't have to zero out any other shaping. Then I did Save As>Support Asset>Morph Asset(s) ... and it had a checklist with G3F at the top and all of her bones below. I checked her, on the intuition that I wanted to make sure this was a G3F morph, but checked none of her bones because neither the Upper nor Lower Neck were listed.
Was that the right way to do it? I ask because when I finally did save, it seemed to write every G3F-based morph in my library. But when I applied my morph to another character, it worked exactly as I intended ... only the changes I made at her neck.
Thank you for your patience!
CrissieB
You wanted only the new morph checked - which should have been somewhere under the Genesis 3 Female heading (click the arrow to expand the list).
Thank you again for your help, Richard. I think I finally understand what I'm doing.
Well ... one more question....
How do I delete previous versions of my morphs?
Never mind about that last question. I figured it out. Thank you for all your help, Richard!
Glad to have helped.
