G3F poses and Symmetry - Bug?

The first image shows a G3F sitting pose I created.  The second shows, an attempt to "mirror image" it using symmetry.  My setting were:

Nodes: Root, Propogation: Recursive, Direction: Swap Left and Right, Trunk Nodes: Leave Alone, Left Node Prefix: left;l, Right Node Prefix: right;r Rotation: X,Y,Z all checked

It does not matter how I set Trunk Nodes, the result is alwasy the same.  Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

    Nodes: Selected

    Propagation: Recursive

    Direction: Swap Left and Right

Trunk Nodes: Mirror y and z rotations

    Left Node: left;l

    Right Node: right;r

    Transforms: Rotation: check x, y, z

    Translation: Check x, y, z

    Scale: all unchecked

  • Thanks for your reply Cris!!  I get the same result using your suggested settings.  Translation does not matter since all are 0.  Also, it does not matter what I set Trunk Nodes to - the results are always the same.  I guess I should report this as a bug.

Was the posing down with just the transform dials, or did you use any pose control morphs?

  • Thanks for your reply, Mike!!  The posing was done with the "Transforms" and "Pose Controls" dials in the "Posing" tab.  No morphs.

The Pose Control dials act as morphs, so they are not taken into account by the symmetry function.  You need to bake morphs to transforms before applying symmetry.

Yeah, I had forgotten about asking if you were using pose controls.

  • Thanks Mike, your suggestion worked!!
