tdlmake process?

Whenever I start up DAZ Studio I notice the fans on my Mac come on for a few minutes. I got curious taday and checked while the fans were still busy and I could see the process tdlmake was consuming 98% CPU time. Then it suddenly stopped. Is this normal and what does it do? I always thought it was a 3Delight process but I rarely use 3DL these days - I use Luxrender mostly. Besides, I wasn't rendering anything at the time.

The problem with Reality, Octane and even Iray is that most things will load 3Delight materials first.  That can trigger tdlmake to run.  A full Iray converted scene that starts with Studio in Iray mode, probably won't trigger it...but just about everything else does.

OK - so it runs even before the render starts. I do use 3DL materials with Reality so that would explain it.

TDLMake will run in the background if the render engine is set to 3Delight.

I guess that, if I am not using 3Delight (although I'm using 3DL materials) I could leave the render engine on OpenGL. Right?

    Yes...that should stop it.
