Can't get D/S Categories to work for 3rd Party Content

dracorndracorn Posts: 2,345

I've been busy categorizing all my DAZ items.  I have some things from third party vendors - Rendo, Hivewire, etc., that I normally have to go to Content Library, Daz Studio Formats or Poser Formats to find.  I am able to add these items to my custom categories, and while the categories can be viewed under Content Library/Categories, they are blank and don't show any of the content.  I expected it not to work for Smart Content.

Am I doing something wrong or will D/S not show items from other markets?

    Can you clarify:

You said you were able to add these items to your custom categories, but your custom categories are blank.  Do you mean you categorized content thumbnails into these folders and saw it work in the past, but now they are blank?

Or did you mean that you have not yet been able to categorize any content thumbnails ever?  (or something else?)

    Sure, happy to clarify.

I have been able to add the custom categories for the Daz content and see the thumbnails.

However, the thumbnails from 3rd party vendors, whether it's Poser content or Daz, does not show up when I categorize them.  I have not been able to get this to work for my content from Rendo, Hivewire, Share CG or even Runtime (pre-migration to Daz).

They should be showing, hmmm.  Ok, so in the Content Library, you are somwhere within "DAZ Studio Formats", you see your content thumbnail, you right-click on it and select Categorize.  You browse to your folder Categories > Animals > Horses > HiveWireHorse > Breeds > Arabian, and you click the box in front of Arabian, and it shows a yellow checkmark.  You Click the Accept button to categorize it.  Now, if you try this again, the checkmark should already be there since it is categorized there.  Is this correct, or is the checkmark gone?  Did you see any error messsages when you clicked accept?

Can you still see the content categorized with a checkmark and showing a normal thumbnail at the original location you found it in DAZ Studio Formats?

    Here are the steps:

    1) Daz Studio Formats, Animals, Horses, Hivewire Horse.  Create Category, which included all the sub-categories.  This method provided the thumbnails for all the Daz content, but I was doing it from within Products.

    2) I went back to Daz Studio Formats, then clicked on the Hivewire individual thumbnails: Categorize.  I put a checkmark in the category I just created.

    3) The checkmark won't stay there.  I even went back and clicked on all the parent categories (a step that was unnecessary for the Daz Studio content).  No matter how I did it, the checkmarks won't stay.  There is no error message.

What's the exact version of DS (e.g. 4.9.1.30)?

Hmm.  Mine is 4.9.0.63.  Looks like I need to update.  I'll do that and try it again.

That was it!  I installed the new version of D/S 4.9, added the individual thumbnails to the categories and now they show up.

    Thank you so much!
