Iray and Lights

I recently installed Daz 4.9 Pro and have been playing around with it, one problem that i can't seem to fix is that my renders turn out really dark whe i use Iray.

I load lights i previously created in earlier versions of daz, and set the render environment to scene only, but it's still mega dark. Does anyone have any idea how to fix the issue?

Thanks!

3Delight lights will often be dark in iray, especially if you don't adjust the Tone Mapping section of Render Settings.

Any suggestions on what needs to be adjusted there?

Select the light and look in the Parameters pane and you will see the "Light" group of parameters and in there you will see "Luminous Flux (Lumen)". The default is 1500 which is likely to be too low. You might need to increase this to something like 10,000 or more. The option that Richard is suggesting is in Render Settings/Tone Mapping. Here you can increase the exposure or "speed" of the film. For example, set Film ISO to 400 or more.

It just occurred to me that if these are preset lights from older sets they will not be loaded in "photometric" mode. In which case you will not see the Luminous Flux parameter. However, you will see a button in the Lights group of the parameters which says Photometric Mode. If this says Off, then click it to On. You will then see the Luminous Flux slider. I think it's very much recommended that you use lights in Photometric when rendering with Iray.
