.dufs and .cr2s

Hi all,
Is it at all possible to convert a .cr2 item like a shoe into a .duf? In other words, is it possible to put poser wardrobe items on a G2 figure if auto-fit doesn't work?
Thanks in advance,
Geoff

Convert a cr2 to .duf is really simple: load into an empty scene, save it in DS format, and you get a .duf.
That won't make it fit any of the Genesis figures if it didn't originally, though....
Shoes can be a problem, but if you want to use them on a later figure conversion is probably a necessary first step (you could reshape the mesh in a modeller and rig from scratch, but that would still involve the kind of weight-map editing that AutoFit often calls for). What sort of problems are you having? Are they shoes that require a morph to fit the feet to the shoes, which can be hard to work around, or are you getting the distorted high heels, which is a relatively simple fix by filling the heels with a uniform weight?
Thank you Leana and Richard,
The shoes in question are high heels and they do require a morph but I am also getting the distortion you mention so if I could start with a fix for that, I can move onto the actual fit.

Sickleyield has a tutorial on fitting shoes to G2/G3, maybe it could help you:

Essentially you need to use the Geometry Editor tool to select all of the polygons for the heel (and probably the sole too - you may be able to do this, with the tool active, by clicking on the + next to the relevant Surface names in the Tool Settings pane), then select the foot, switch to the Node Weight paint Brush tool, select the assigned weight maps in turn in the Tool Settings pane, and right click in the viewport, Weight Editing>Fille Selected..., set the value to 100%, click Accept. That should remove posing distortion, though you may still have some distorition on the heel from the shape conversion - applying a Smoothing Modifier and setting the Smoothing type to Generic will help with that, if it smooths too much in the wrong places you are going to have to edit teh mesh directly in a modeller (it would be nice to be able to modulate the smoothing through a weight map, the way we now can with Push Modifiers).
Aaarg! My brain is melting...
This is going to need time so I might not get back with a result for a while...
Thank you all so much for this, I'll work through it with your help, or I might just buy a pair of .duf heels!

Is there a way to batch conver CR2's to duf files? I have a lot of older content that onlly has Cr2's and I'd rather have every thing showing up in the one place.
