Hi all,
Just got my new laptop and wanted to install Daz Studio. I have two hard drives C:/ which is a 256GB SDD drive and D:/ a 2TB HDD. I want to install DazStudio on the D:/ drive because the other one is just to small. Got loads of content on my old laptop that i want to use again. I'm using Windows 10 now, my old laptop had Windows 7. I never installed in a non default folder before so i don't know if it's possible. I want everything in my D:/ drive, the program itself and all content. Is that possible ? Or will it cause conflicts?

Installing content to a non-default location is fine - as a general thing you can tell Windows to use the D: drive as your documents etc. folder, which will cause future applications to set their paths accordingly - including DS if you haven't yet installed. To do this open a file window, go to C:\Users\YOU\, and find the various content folders (Documents, Pictures etc.). In each case right-click, select Properties, go to the Location tab and use the Change button.
If you are installing with DIM you need to click the gear icon at top-right to open preferences; you can set the Downloads folder for the zips in the first tab, and add a new destination folder for content in the Installation tab by clicking the + button, giving it a name, and using the ... button to select the folder; once added, select the folder and make it the default if you wish. To install DAZ Studio to another drive change the location for 32 and 64 bit software at the top of the Installation tab - don't put DAZ in the path, that's a general apth that will be used for any application DIM installs and the actual Studio folder will be added to it.
Once DS is isntalled you need to open Daz Studio and go into the Content Directory Manager (Edit>Preferences>Content Library tab, there's a button at the bottom to launch the Content Directory manager); once in there expand the lists under DAZ Studio Formats and Poser formats, select each heading in turn, and click Add... to add the path you selected in DIM. While in the Content Directory Manager, if this is 4.9 you will want to edit the DAZ Connect Data path too by highlighting it and selecting the Edit button (if you moved the Docuemnts folder first it should already be pointing to the D: drive folder though).
Hi, thanx for your comment. I tried to install Daz Studio multiple times and i'm probably doing something wrong. When i load Genesis 3 she appears in blocks for some reason.I'm not using DIM btw, i want to install everything manually. I changed Windows to using the D:\ as my documents etc folder but Daz Studio seems to ignore that.( Is there a way to change them back to default location?) I've uninstalled everything again and kind of gave up on it,cause it's the 15th time i've tried to install....
Did you change the list of content directories in DS, as Richard said?
