Texture advice for a newbie!

Hi, I'm trying to work out how to add a grubby appearance to the palms of a DAZ figure in POSER9 to simulate working in a dirty environment, but without using photoshop (i.e so the character can still be posed in Poser and not just a 2d JPEG etc).

This is just a small part in the whole process of adding various textures to characters that I want to do in order to add realism, but I cannot work out the complex instructions. Can anyone simplify this (adding textures) process for me?

Well, if you don't mind using Photoshop (or similar) before rendering you could add an overlay made with something like the clouds filter, either to the base texture or as a mask in the Poser material room to darken the hand texture (the latter having the advantage of being reusable). You could also look at some of the pattern nodes in the Material Room, using a simpler mask to isolate the areas of the texture you want to affect and a noise pattern to apply variable darkening within that area.
