No Gloss and no shine on skin ...

...no matter what I do.
I have no idea why.
In the preview the skin shows where the glossy aerea are , but when I render it there is not one bit of gloss/shin on the skin.
How the heck does everyone else does it.
Are their any tutorials?

Do you know if the materials were made for Iray or 3Delight?
They where made for Iray, but no matter what skin I use, I have no luck when I use the glossy options under skin, the only times I see this gloss/shine is when I change the Metalize value.
I am running Daz Studio 4.9.1.30
First step, make sure headlamp is off, it's in parameter tab of camera. That can make everything look rather flat. The rest is in the scene lighting and camera settings. Also, textured shaded preview doesn't give very accurate results, to get a better idea, go to window > panes > aux viewport. Make it pretty small, it will be fast that way. Then set the render setting to iray. It might take a minute to first starrt up, but after initial start up it should update failry fast when you make light changes. You could also just set the viewport to iray, but it will be slower than a small aux viewport will be.
I always switch the headlamp off, it is the first thing I do or I will forget.
I see that you are using ready made shaders, but I am trying to use the surface tab to do it myself.
You say it is in the Camera and lighting settings.
I do understand with the light, but not so much with the Camera.
Iray is doing the best it can to mimic real world, including camera settings. I tend to look up articles on real photography settings and set the camera up first, then light the scene after. I usually turn ISO to 50 and fstop to at least 24 first for indoor artificial light scenes for example. I am not sure why the camera defaults are what they are, a lot of light sets seem to be built around them settings though. I find that I have to really crank up bought light sets to work with my camera settings, but they seem to look a lot more natural that way. First render is a bought light set with default camera settings. Second render I put ISO to 50 and sftop 28, then cranked the lights up. Third is the same as the second, I just added wet body for fun. If you are going for really shiny like that, you might consider picking it up. It is more physically accurate than you can get messing with skin settings. Shiny skin is really oil or water on top of the skin, so a geoshell on top of the skin with settings to mimic water or oil will look more real. Downside is it takes longer to render.
I do like the shadows on the first image better than on the other 2, they are very dark and the wet skin is not really the effect I am after but thank you so very much for taking the time and helping me:)
I shall have a look at camera settings tomorrow when I re render an Image.
I have now noticed that I get siny skin when I use Metalicity in the Surface tab.
I just have to keep on playing :)
I don't know if this will help you or not, but I had the same problem, especially when it came to Genesis 3 and Guy 7. Guy 7 skin was so flat, it looked painted on. So I played with the gloss and stuff because I wanted a baby oiled look, and this is what I posted on another site to share my findings.
Settings:
Metalicity - 0.35
Glossy layered weight - 1.00
Glossy Reflectivity - 0.85
Glossy Color Effect - Scatter and Transmit
Glossy Roughness - 0
(To change the shine from reflective to a more
soft gloss, you can play with the Glossy Roughness
by setting it from 0.25 to 0.50-ish).
Playing with the metalocity and glossy roughness is the key I found. The glossy roughness takes the shine from glassy to more frosted and soft, while the metalicity handles the gleem I guess you could call it. It takes some tweaking and playing with the settings, but just run a few spot renders. Don't forget to put lighting and at least a sky dome in your scene, the body needs reflection sources! Hope this helps.
Oh I am sure this will help.
Just knowing it is not just me with this problem. phewww :)
I shall try this out later today.
Thank you so much.
Take a look at Fastgrab right now. There's a skin shader that seems to add shine. Ah, I just noticed it only works on G2F but you might be able to copy some of the settings (I don't have it so can't confirm).

Personally, I don't like shiny skin but it is all subjective.
I can not buy anything this month, I just got that new PC, well over my DS budget lol. THANK YOU:)
I will put it in my Wishlist though.
It all depends, sometimes a bit of shine * not to much * can really live an image, other times it would not look right in the overall image.
Just great to know if one can achieve it in case it is needed.
