Nice to see you got those weapons in! They were in my cart very fast

  • You need to start a commercial thread for them!

  • Thanks Knittingmommy and Ice Dragon!

I don't know how products fare after the initial first day sale spotlight, but so far I'm actually impressed!

    Thanks Knittingmommy and Ice Dragon!

That's great!  I agree you should start a thread in the commercial section.  I check there everyday lol.

  • Thanks Linwelly!

I'll look at the commercial section, thanks... didn't remember there was one.

I've read that most vendors seem to see their biggest sales those first two weeks during the release.

  • Thanks Linwelly!

I'll look at the commercial section, thanks... didn't remember there was one.

Some vendors have commercials in the Vendor's Forum and some put a commercial thread in the Commons.  Some do both.  Most people visit the Commons so it makes sense to have something there.  Having a thread in the Commons is great if you want to see others' renders using your product.  If that is something you want to see, that is.

  • Good to know, will be interesting to see how things go once they flatline. So far day 1 here... is better than year 1 on any other site I've tried in the past.

I'm about to take a break, from working on the warrior girl (and refreshing the vendor tab, not sure where I spent more time today) and then I'll start a thread in the commons, thanks for the info. And yes, seeing what others do with your stuff is part of what motivates me personally.

I tried the PA commercial forums but it won't let me start a thread there so I emailed support, we'll see what happens.

The sites been up and down for a week now due to server upgrade issues.  while you are waiting for support, I would just keep trying, it might eventually work.

    Hey, congrats on the release!

I have a product showcase/review thread here in Art Studio, (3 years) and someone will hopefully do a render and showcase over there for you. If not, feel free to post some images. The poses look good too!  Looking forward to seeing more, and welcome to DAZ and the Art Studio!

  • Thanks Novica, I'll keep an eye on it!

A quick update on the female warrior... The metal parts on the gauntlet are not final yet and the fluffy fur part is missing + still needs some polishing, some of the bracelets are missing displacement maps or materials altogether.
The beads will have some color to giver her a bit of an accent. Shoulders are almost ready too and... still have to redo the chest piece... which is rather small anyway :)

And thanks for all the love the weapons have been getting with all the comments and renders!

    Thanks everybody!

Moving this weekend so that's a bit distracting atm (on top of everything else that is)... but finished the shoulder pads and some other things... still missing the fluffy fur and some displacement effects are not applied.

There's only the chest piece left to do (I think I'll have to do a morph for the G3F torso breasts) and a cape.

QUESTION: I was thinking of doing the hair too which would be a simple ponytail. On the other hand, given all the new things to learn this figure introduces for me (and thinking of all the back and forth I had with the weapons to get them released) I was thinking that it was maybe better to not add even more things to this project. So the question would be... What's more common, to have to find a suitable hairstyle for gear just purchased, or can one expect a hairstyle to be included when you have something like a facemask or helmet that doesn't work with all hairstyles ?

That's really cool! Reminds me a little of General Kael's armor from the movie Willow. :)

I think that the norm is to buy hair separate, but I have bought sets that I really enjoy that did include hair. Luthbel's Long Time Dead and Mec4D's The Great Wizards come to mind immediately. In the case of the wizard, having the hair come with the set really helps because it works with the hat straight out of the box. Your set may fall into the same category with the helmet, though from what I can see so far, it doesn't look like it'll be much of an issue.

Really looking forward to this set Mario.

I'm going to say that 90% of the time this type of set does not come with the armor.  Its cool when it does but not expected I think.  And I believe hair is a lot different as far as movement morphs etc that you might want to add to it.  I don't think not having hair with the helmet will hurt sales in the least.

  • Yeah, the norm is no hair with the armor.  It's great when it does, but that isn't the norm.  If you want to hurry it along, push through the armor and then maybe do the hair separate as an add-on product on it's own.  Bonus points if it is a hair that can also be used by other pieces of headgear, but not a requirement.

  • Okay, perfect, good to know thanks!

The Mask just covers the face and forehead and is thick enough I think that it would hide any hair coming down the forehead if it doesn't have a lot of volume and stays above the eyes... I'll try that later with the default hair included, and I saw some pigtail styles on the store I'll probably grab for the renders.

  • Colin Hair would be a good one to try as it is for G3 and it autofits on both male and female figures nicely.  Some of the ponytail hair like Ancient Combat Hair might also work.  I haven't specifically tried that one on G3F or G3M, but most hairs for the previous generation have been autofitting very nicely because I don't have a large catalog of hair for G3, yet, so I've been using a lot of G2 hairs on my G3 characters.

  • Diva - I remember that General Kael from Willow, he looked pretty menacing back then but seeing him now again... he's not as imposing anymore these days, probably needs bigger shoulder pads :p
But yes, they have enough in common that you could probably take my warrior (give her some more clothing) and turn her into a modernized, female version of him.

  • Thanks for the links Mommy, I grabbed the Colin Hair, seems to look pretty good.

Still playing with the materials, but she's getting a nice 2 hander, although after staring at it for a while, the pommel needs to be a bit smaller...

Wow I am just so impressed with the detail in your pieces.  Just really beautiful.

  • Yeah, that looks really good!  Glad to know that hair might work for you, Strangefate! :)

I was watching a little Forged in Fire on the History Channel the other day, and I can just imagine Doug Marcaida (their martial arts edged-weapons specialist) would say after testing this weapon by hacking up a ballistics gel dummy:

"The pommel ornamentation could potentially injure the practitioner's hands if their grip slips, and the round shape of the hilt may make it harder to keep track of the orientation of the blade, but this, sir, will kill."

Actually, the "kill" is more like a "keeel", and he'd say it with a grin on his face lol ;)

Please hurry up and release this so I can buy it - my fledgling Iray skills are improving and I can't wait to render it!

Nice Greg, I thought about both issues actually! ...I almost made the spikes on the pommel larger originally and was going to flatten the hilt, but didn't think anyone would notice!

Another thing I didn't notice (until I tried) was that she can't carry a 2 handed sword on her back, her shoulderpads and the horns on the mask make it somewhat difficult, always get in the way.
So, I took the 2 hander and converted it into a regular 1 hander she can carrry attached to her belt. I will include both swords since they use the same texture, she just won't be able to store the 2 hander anywhere properly.

The scabbard is done... just missing the straps to attach it to the belt... then it's just wrapping up the chest piece which is half done and making a cape... then the fun in Daz can begin figuring out some rigging and weighting.
