  • 21st Daz3D Bryce Render challenge

  •

  • Now Sponsored by Daz 3D

  •

  •  Theme for this challenge is ~~"Storms"~~

  • #################################################################

  • Once again a theme that can be interpreted in many different ways

  • from the obvious Thunder Storm or Snow Storm

  • through the storms of life

  • to someone who storms out of a discussion or meeting

I am sure you can think or even more.

Can you think outside the box with this one? or would you rather be traditional.

Your imagination is the only limit.

This thread is the WIP thread, so you can post here to show us how things are coming along before the render is transferred to the actual Contest thread for judging. You don't have to do that.we collect up all the finished ones and make the thread, with each render given a number and title, but no artist name shown, so it's a blind judging thread for the judging panel.

Rules

  •

All renders must be new renders.
  •

You can enter up to 3 renders.
  •

You must abide by the DAZ 3D forum TOS
  •

Imported content is allowed, but the render must be obviously a Bryce render.
  •

Post Work permitted, but please keep it to a minimum.
  •

Rules may be changed for subsequent Challenges, depending on the theme and the person who has selected it.
  •

The winner of the Challenge will get the chance to name the theme for the next contest.
  •

This will then continue with subsequent winners choosing the theme for the next contest, which will enable a new contest to start with the minimum of delay between contests.
  •

Whoever nominates the subject for the Challenge can modify the rules to suit that challenge.

Please don't post your entry renders anywhere else until after the Challenge is judged, as judging is done in a blind judging thread, so the Judges don't know who has done which image.

Challenge ends on 30th June :- Midnight DAZ 3D time

DAZ 3D Sponsorship, in the form of Store credit

Ist Place $30
2nd Place $20
3rd place $15

In addition DAZ 3D Store Credit will be given to the people whose renders are selected as the Honourable mentions,
$10 for each of 3 honorable mentions

We will also be offering a special prize for the render judged the best from a Bryce New User. DAZ 3D will add $10.

Judged by members of the DAZ 3D CV team and guest judges.

By entering this contest, you agree to allow DAZ3D to use any artwork you submit in any promotional materials they may choose.

    Okay, nice topic.
    My first picture:

    Twister Time

The Funnel was made of a lattice, the clouds of 12 Spheres.

By the way - who won the last contest?

I am still chasing up votes and trying to make sense of the prize list for the last one,   Sorry,  I did mention that it may be delayed, due to unforseen circumstances.

    Very dramatic storm, drachenlords.

Chohole: No Problem. I just thought I missed it. No stress.

    Thank you Horo.

Great idea, really like it. The black part between the cup and the saucer looks odd to me. Is the cup floating?

Lol...no. This Part has an Gold Metal. The black Part is the Reflexion of the Cup, but under the cup is no Light. And I have no Idea how I can do better. Do you have a hint for me?

You could give it some diffuse and add a radial with square falloff or ranged, no shadow casting and only include that very object. That's what comes to mind. Or light the underside of the cup the same way.

This is an NAE,  but is one I did back in 2010, as a tribute to the original drummer and founder member of a Welsh group called the Stereophonics.

@drachenlord, nice renders, both!  The teacup idea is great.  I also like the waves and lightning in the clouds in "summon the storm", but now I'm going to have rethink my own entry (which, amusingly, is currently under construction on my PC in a the folder named "summoning the storm"....   A challenge!  :-)

  • drachenlordsdrachenlords Posts: 821

lol ... that's funny. Well I hope that I do not have you stolen the idea for your picture.
    Thank you for comment

Well as we said in a previous challenge,  it is really good to see how 2 people think on a similar image.

chohole - good idea, nicely done.

drachenlords - the storm in a teacup looks now flawless to me. Summon the storm is also a beautifully done render.
